They look rather posh and they will kill the "ooh, doesn't your car have bonnet lifters?" carp that i've had in the past.

Put me down for TWO please, one for my L&K and one for SWMBO's vRS.

Ta.

One small question though, does the lifter push the bonnet as high as the standard rest? I read somewhere that the lifter stops a little short, do we know by how much?

The bonnet is bl88dy heavy as well !

Thanks for your interest Dan, here is TallioN's Race Blue vRS with MILOTEC bonnet lifter in place.

Looks big enough to get your head in, but perhaps too small to get the engine block out

I have PM'd TallioN for the reduction in opening height and will update when he replies.

Potentially interested, but also would like to know the difference in bonnet height.

OK I don't have an Octavia at the moment, and until TallioN returns (with a tape measure)

All we have to do is some simple trigonometry, I am however relying on you lot to supply me with the car based dimensions and I will do the calculations.

PS: - this is a joke and a PM has been sent to TallioN

Thanks gillywibble - I will provisionally add your interest (all interested parties dependent on confirmed price and specification etc)

GAFF, I can't say for sure, as I don't know the kit's exact weight.

The kit comprises the following:

1x LIFTOMAT (the gas strut)
2x ball joint sockets
2x spacers
1 x self locking nut (8mm)
2x locking pins for ball joints
1x mounting rail
1x instructions!
and the packaging for that lot

SHIPPING COSTS FOR UK / EUROPE

Your guess is as good as mine - but I think they will be less than 1kg each, on eBay the P&P for similar kits to Europe seem to be about £6.50 (and that includes packing costs aswell).

So if it weighs:

500g-1,000g
£1.92 to £2.30 UK SECOND CLASS
£3.85 STANDARD UK PARCELS
£3.88 to £5.88 AIRMAIL
1kg-1.5kg
£4.95 STANDARD UK PARCELS
£5.88 to £8.38 AIRMAIL

TallioN has done us proud and has supplied not only measurements BUT photos aswell.

Thank you very much TallioN !

The aperture is 1.1m or 110 cm

That's more than adequate.

I wanted to make sure it wasn't silly low so I would smack my head every time I check the oil (every few days most probably)

I'm 6'3" and didn't want to have to kneel to get under the bonnet

Excellent photos by the way

Am I the only one with the compulsion to keep cleaning that bit above the number plate that the bonnet usually hides?

I always clean there, and inside the bonnet, engine bay, door shuts, boot etc. Don't like to leave anything. You can eat your dinner off my engine (if you so desire )

By the way, the bonnet is currently 119cm so not much difference really.

I always used to give the door shuts and the like a good cleaning but not every time.
