I have got this installed (CK3000 & T610).

The install is easy I can give you a few tips. se also do a holder for the phone and an external antenna connection + car charger. I have mounted mine next to the handbrake. which is lucky because when the phone rings at night the light is very bright and if it where in the normal position would be distracting.

Problems so far are-
No one can here me when I call reception is fine and speach coming in is good, but there is a definate problem in my opinion between the T610 and the Parrot. I am waiting for a new microphone to see if that helps but I doubt it will. I think the latest version of software from Parrot which has just been released may help. But my advice would be to wait until I sort this out otherwise a normal kit might be a better way to go.

will keep you posted.
Morgan.

Dad just forked out a couple of hundred ££ for a siemens mobile (the one off the telly) which was supposed to have bluetooth, but bloody didn't! - Turned out the shop was just bull5hitting to get a sale! And to think I got my first mobile ever from them as well!

PS: No experience of blue tooth here - I'll only make calls in the car if I'm on the motorway where it's safer than normal roads (i.e no gearchanges), and won't answer in similar circumstances. I only have a 33 series Nokia... I get so hacked off when I see people texting whilst driving...

I have a Siemans S55 running with the S/E bluetooth kit as I had a S/E T68i previous (which was total rubbish) . Anyway, the phone works fine with the Bluetooth kit, which I fitted myself in my VW Transporter, using the separate external speaker but muteing the radio when used.

I have also just fitted a T610 and S/E Bluetooth kit to another Transporter, and that also works fine.

For me, I would try to match S/E with S/E kits, or any other make and the Parrot.

One thing I will add, Bluetooth isnt perfect. You will get non-pairing of the phone to kit, you will get the kit not ringing when the phone is with you and you are in the car. The only way to resolve this I find is to reboot the phone, and/ or car kit.

I think peoples expectations of Bluetooth are too much in general, however the kits are a doddle to instal, and easy to set up.

The only reason for going for the Parrot one is it uses the cars speakers so no need to find a mounting for another speaker, But I'll wait see if morgan gets his sorted.

Cheers All

The Sony Ericsson kits do too, you just need the wiring module to allow it.

Both kits will do more or less the same, although if memory serves well the Parrot has voice dialing memories in the kit rather than the phone, although expierience of voice dialling when mobile is a very hit and miss affair due to the background noise.

Just remembered...my bro has the T610 and S/E kit (which I fitted) and he has had the same problem I think its more a Sony Ericsson fault in the phone.

Think "great" is pushing it a bit - "satisfactorily audible" would be closer to the mark...

I am waiting for an S/E T610 from Orange as they have discontinued the Nokia 8310e (my favourite) and don't have any Nokia 6100s (another very nice phone) in stock to replace the one they have just sent me. That has to go back as the phone number and IMEI don't match and the phone therefore cannot be registered. (The number is one Orange are recycling, but they haven't done their homework properly). But back to topic. Is your setup the cheapest way to go Bluetooth for occasional car use, Paul, and are there any other options which don't involve a fixed Bluetooth installation in the vehicle? I would like to be able to use the facility in either car I drive.

(PS. Sorry to have strayed into a forum I don't usually use... )

Denis,

you can use the headset hbh-35 that i have anywhere.. in car or about the house.. range is about 15m call quality is excellent dropping to good in the tvr. you can get them onlione from about 70quid - i got mine in the orange shop for 90 cos i am impatient.

It charges using the same charger as the phone and gives about 3 hrs talk time.

Thanks for that, Paul. The cheapest I have found it is £69.99 all in from Amazon. Is there nothing that store doesn't sell?!

Just one thing you should know, from December the government are making Headset's illegal in cars, now I suppose it would be difficult to stop you on it, but hey dont say I didnt warn you

No they are not.

It will only be illegal if the Phone is hand-held at any time during a call. If it has auto-answer you are ok to use a headset.

Your probably right, but http://www.abd.org.uk/pr/356.htm and http://www.indicator.co.uk/businessm...R_EU041501.htm and Safe Speed (http://www.safespeed.org.uk/phone.html) have a bit on it as well

But hey what do I know, just want a car kit, and it's a good enough excuse to let the other half let me have one

2 of those pages are at least 5 or 6 months old, and i suspect the safespeed.org.uk one is old too. They pre-date the consultation period by a couple of months IIRC.

A lot of the scare stories have come from suppliers & makers of fitted hands-free systems, for obvious reasons.

By the way, even with the new law in place, you can still be prosecuted if it can be proven that your use of a hands-free phone renders you unable to keep full control of your vehicle.

You can't win

Well thats all fine with me, I am fed up seeing people trying to balance a phone between ear and shoulder and trying to drive and change gear at the same time...and I am quite happy to let them know my dislike with the careful use of my VW outside sounder known as a horn.

And before anyone jumps in to say "how much they need a phone", I am a service engineer, who,s mobile phone provides me with work and a living....but I dont use a mobile in hand when driving, I will just let it ring until it is safe to answer ie parked up.

Agreed, going to be doing large(ish) mileage and getting annoyed with not hearing the stereo proply cause of wearing my BT headset, so gonna get the car kit and be done with it, I'll wear the headset when using the other half's car!

This link is the best one I could find summarising the forthcoming new regulations concerning mobile phone use in cars:

Hmmmm

Something that caught my eye from that page

Quote:
To make or receive calls whilst the phone is being held in a cradle (pushing buttons whilst in the cradle, or operation via buttons on a steering wheel would not breach the new regulation).

Now i find it VERY hard to believe that they wouldn't stop you for pushing buttons on a cradle-mounted phone, it would totally defeat the object of the new law.
