Unhappy Insurance For Furby Vrs

Trying desperately to get some quotes for insurance on my upcoming vrs.

No one seems to have the car listed in the database. I know it's group 9A, and the only two I've managed to get a quote from are Skoda (who refused to quote me due to 0 yrs NCB) and a small company called Adrian Flux who were very good in finding out the details of the car and offered around £870 for a 24yr old with 3 points and no NCB, so I think it's pretty good, but I'd like a few more quotes to compare.

So if you are lucky enough to have a fabia vRS and even luckier to have been able to insure it ( :p ) then please let me know who you are with.

I would give Liverpool Victoria a bell - seem good to me, especially given the modding you may wish to do?

BTW: £870 does seem good, considering I've been quoted £750 for my remapped TDI - same age as yourself, but clean license and 3 years NCB.

Yep - planning on the modding and that's why I've already rung them. But no vRS on their system yet.

Edit: I'm trying hard not to double post. :p Look at your other insurance post Jason, I mentioned the LV scenario there (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showt...&threadid=4649)

Direct Line have the car on their system and it only cost me 40 sheets more for the remaining 5 months!

Will phone around whenit is renewal time, but for now I'm well pleased!

Hmm. Yes, in fact, I'll admit I did get a quote from DL, but dismissed it as it was over 1300 notes

If a car is not on a company's database, they should allow the insuree to give details like cc, bhp, price, performance etc, and use that to base a premium on. In fact, come to think about it, you should be able to tell the car is group 9A, and give them the purchase price, and that should be sufficient - IMHO, at least.

More Th>n have gone down in my estimations recently, so I'm kind of glad they haven't got your business - It doesn't help you with your search for insurance though, does it?

Nope, it certainly doesn't. I told the chap the car was group 9A and the price and it was a "normal" furby, but he said he couldn't do it 'cos it's the only furby model at 9A !

I'll prolly wait another few days and try LV again. If not, it'll be the first guys (Adrian Flux) who were very helpful

EDIT: although they were very helpful, when i did phone back to find out how much it would be to add my gf to the policy, the chap said they'd just suffered a computer crash due to a power cut (classic ) and he'd phone me back asap. The call never materialised

Tesco.com don't have it listed online. Closest they had (!) was a 1.9 tdi - which would cost me £296.10 to insure

Well, Liverpool Victoria phoned me back just now.
The fact that the car isn't on their database yet and the fact I'm not yet 25 (albeit I will be in 5 frikkin months!) they refuse to quote.

So that leaves me with AF who won't insure my gf and DLine who are asking 1500 quid. Eff Off DL, I'm not gonna pay that.

So, any considerate insurers out there who are prepared to insure a just-under-25 yr old who has 5 years of licence and 5 years of driving (named driver on father's insurance), never had a car crash in his life...

I'm beginning to despair!

Well, you do have a choice with DL - increase your excess. My attitude is that it's better to pay it if you have an accident, not in case you have an accident. If you increase it to £750 voluntary and £250 for young and inexperienced driver, then your premium will be about £600-£700 at a guess.
I did this, but they still wanted £1700 off me, so I ended up saving myself £900 and going with Norwich Union Direct. Who also reduced the premium by £100 by putting my wife on the policy, even though she's only got a provisional licence!

I take it that £900 is on a relatively low excess...and that you don't live on a council estate in North Manchester...
Still, like I say, if you increase your excess by £500 it'll probably halve the premium. And if you're lucky and don't have accidents, that's quite a big saving...

SUCCESS!!!

Elephant came out to be the best. £799.50 fully comp with SWMBO insured fully comp and she can use it for commuting - although I'll probably never let her take the car away from my commuting for a 3 mile down the road trip, even if she tries the strategy.

So I think I'm well happy. Just waiting for a broker to come back to me with his best and see if he can beat this elephant quote (but with flea-pricing)

Oh, one last thing that nearly made me fall off my chair when I phoned them: had the usual "Thank you for calling us. Please hold..." bla bla bla.
Then "Hello, my name is Daniel and I'm your elephant handler, how can I help?" but I don't have an elephant! LOL

Just renewed with Liverpool Victoria at £685, 26yrs with 6yrs NCB, 3 points.

This might seem a lot, but covers all the mods (+ any others if i were to make any, as long as the engine capacity doesnt go up)
They also dont seem bothered about speeding fines.

They couldnt quote me for the vRS yet, but i'm not expecting to have to pay much more when the time comes.
