Nokia CK-7W install

I have had a new car kit fitted about 2 weeks ago, and noticed a pic of someone else's Smartnav install who have place the microphone in a different postiion to mine.

This appears to be because the courtesy light cluster has a vented area.

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/attac...4-img_1379.jpg

My micropohne completly covers this over.

Can someone tell me what this is for - i suspect it is the factory fit microphone if I had Skoda version ?

if not I will need to get them back to move it!

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

I'm sure that's where the volumetric sensors are for the alarm (if fitted)...

I'm pretty sure thats the Skoda microphone slot. I looked it up a while ago IIRC it's £27.

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

TBH, I thought the same as Liam - I had the CK-7W in the Fabia, Polo and now the Ibiza! All had a similar area by the light, but I always presumed that was alarm-sensor related.

Would be good to know for sure, if Stu or anyone else can come up with additional info

Liam - My apologies I think you may be right - I can't find the diagram I was previously looking at.

I've always thought it was that. I think I remember a thread from way back with someone trying the alter the sensitivity of the sensor...

Don't see why you'd have to move it Ray, if you're happy with it there? It's not actually covering or obstructing that vent is it?

If you do want to move it, there's more than enough spare cable for the mic, so you could move it a bit futher along the headlining.

I think that's a picture of another car Steve, Ray's is covering that vent.

Ahhh, now I understand - why didn't you say so?

I'd maybe move it then, to be on the safe side

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

Just drop the light out and have a look, the light is only held in by 2 screws. My octavia has no alarm and I put my mike behind the grill, had to cut it out the nokia casing. Works very well above the grill nd of course not visable.

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

In the Superb, the alarm sensors are mounted in the rear courtesy lights, the vent in the front interior light, is i'm sure just that.

I might just do that

Due to fit the W8 light when time permits, so I'm going to find out either way. In the Polo/Fabia/Ibiza there's no other location I can see or know about that could contain the volumetric sensor though?

Great idea and will make it look a lot neater !
I have the factory fit alarm, I'll go and get the car manual and see if it mentions the sensor in here.
Failing that I'll get the screwdriver out.

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

no mention of the sensors in the manaul.
Pretty poor manual - dont even see that it covers bulb replacement. Nothing like encouraging you to go to the local dealers.

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

So is this confirmation Stu that alarm sensors aren't located in the light? Would be great if they weren't, as I can put my Nokia mic in there as well

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

The new Nokia Mic is directional, so hiding it in the light may not be a good idea?

Stupidly Nokia have put the wire that connects to the Nokia Brain at the front so you have to loop the wire back around the mic itself making it rather untidy.

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

Just looking at fitting one of these kits to my Mk1 Octy. Where has everyone put the rest of the gubbins that comes in the kit? Is there a generally used area under the dash that takes the kit just nicely to save me stripping the whole thing trying to find the right space?

My current phones, incl. the work one, are not bluetooth so need to be cabled up. What's the best mount that doesn't require obvious drilling or screwing of the dash?

Re: Nokia CK-7W install

I think in the Octy I there is room behind the glovebox or in the area behind the side panels on the centre console.

Try Brodit or Dashmount.
