Security Additions

Getting my vRS Octavia on sat and I am a bit worried about security. What do most people use in addition to the immoboliser?

Welcome to Briskoda magunn.

Most seem to be happy with just the immobiliser but I think I'm right in saying that your dealer can fit a Thatcham approved alarm. Apart from that just don't make your car any more tasty than it already is ie don't leave stuff on view, don't throw your car keys on a shelf next to the back door when you get in, get one of those Disklock things.

Disclock will at least put off the more opportunistic pond life or hopefully take them too much time to complete the theft.

I hate it that we even have to talk about these things.

[paranoia] Probably best not to publish all your security details on a public forum[/paranoia]

However, Greenlight required my vRS to have CAT 1 security rather than the standard imobiliser.

A Dirty great yellow Disclock and a Clifford sticker on the window is just as much of a give-away

I'd take the Clifford sticker off if I were you!

Presumably i should remove the huge, flashing red Clifford LED also ?

Might as well not bother with an alarm then.

Replace the vRS badge with a "1.4 16v" one.

(only half joking)

I've often wondered about the "sticker" thing - whether to leave it on or take it off.

I guess you'd want to leave it on so that juvenile joy-riding kids would leave the car alone saying "cor, it's got the dogs of alarms. Don't wanna try that one one!"

But then again, you may want to take it off so that the professional thieving scumbag won't have an advanced warning and knowledge of what protection the car has and so facilitate him in driving away with it.
