Hi, Can anyone help with getting the code for a Skoda Symphony HU ? I bought it from Chris Taylor who is on here, but he didn't have a record of the code. He has tried asking DM Keith for it, and I've tried a dealer local to me, but neither have been helpful. Any ideas ? Nick.

I asked Farmers Skoda in Nottingham, they said they could do it but they need the HU in the car and have to do it with a computer plugged into the car, cost about £40. The service guy gave me a number for a place in Derby called Phly (pronounced fly) who may be able to do it cheaper, they bought the equipment off a guy in Nottingham who used to do it. I have the number somewhere around if you want it, where are you? Is it the HU out of the red vrs being broken?

I'm just following a lead for a place local to me, Suffolk, which can recode it. I only need this one to work, cos the CD changer input on my original one has died. I think Chris's VRS is black if I remember correctly. Can't find his member profile atm ;-)

Well I managed to get the symphony recoded. Unfortunately its working but the sound with either the cd changer or the connects2 connected is very distorted. As I got this one to replace my old HU where the CD input had died completely I'm not doing very well. So has anyone got a symphony from a mk1 octavia with a working cd changer input, and the code, which they no longer need, which they could let me have cheap ? At this rate having bought a replacement HU, and a connects2 I would have been better off getting a completely new HU with aux in :-( Nick.

| The HUs are subject to interference but shouldn't distort badly. More, you'll here electronic clickery when changing volume, CDs etc. Distortion sounds like bad wiring or shielding or too high (or low) an input signal. Try reducing the configuration to the minimum of wires needed to operate the changer, and see if the sound changes. HTH. BTW: You can get a very decent HU for not much money these days. Factor in IPOD or MP3 player connectivity and you don't need the CD Changer. J.
