Question VRS Fabia HU memory problem

Hi guys,
Today i fitted a pioneer HU into the fabia with a dash surround from halfords.
all went really easy and it worked fine, with a ISO lead i had from my previous felicia.

Unfortunately after i switched it off the went back a few mins later the radio had lost all of its settings.

Is it easier for me just to get an iso lead for it or is there another (cheaper) way of getting the permanent power to it.

thanks in advance
Simon

Re: VRS Fabia HU memory problem

Does the Pioneer have a swappable connector for the permanent and switched feed? Most do after a certain age.

Re: VRS Fabia HU memory problem

The red and orange(I think?) leads on the Pioneer might have bullet connectors inline. My 10 year old Pioneer did. It's usual to have to swap these for some cars- VW, Audi, Seat. Skoda, Vauxhall/GM. Check the manual for the HU if you have it.

For some reason some cars have the switched and permanent feeds reversed.

Re: VRS Fabia HU memory problem

My code for the Fabia is on a card in the manual pack, I think. Anyway, you might not need it to refit it to the same car: some VW ones have a 'pairing' to the instrument cluster, but for a Felly I'm not at all sure.

Switch the red and yellow wires around on the pioneer wires and your memory will save. Im a audio fitter for halfords and come across this simple problem all the time.

Re: VRS Fabia HU memory problem

Mate i did this and it promptly blew the fuse in the fuse box

Then it took me another 10mins to figure out where the fuse box was

I have refitted the standard HU for now until i can find a suitable replacement

Re: VRS Fabia HU memory problem

You must have touched bare metal somehow with one of the connectors to blow the fuse. That is all that needs doing though as mentioned above, wires need swapping and on the pioneer loom there will be an easy way to swap them.

Did you actually READ my response to your original thread? Why do I bother?

Mate i did read it BUT as i say it blew the fuse and to my knowledge i didn't touch metal to metal

I did contact the ebay seller but never got a response, hence refitted the original HU.

All I've seen do, the red and yellow wires have bullet connectors in them.
