Cool 410bhp Monaro owner looking at getting a Skoda

Hi Guys,
Have had a 410bhp Monaro for the past 12 months, baby's on its way and need to swap it for a 4 door car and I have always had one eye on an Octavia/Fabia vRS so here I am....

ONE QUESTION:

Where the hell is the for sale forum on here ? would prefer to buy my Skoda from here as opposed to a main dealers !!

Hi Dan,

Welcome...yes we keep a few things for registered owners.

Now good or bad, do I tell him?

You can with a little tinkering get an octy that will keep your monaro honest.

Heck of a change...I've been taking different routes home to avoid the pull of a vx dealershiop around the vxr launch...dam nice cars, but not for this county.

Ahh that explains it!!

I would enquire with some dealers about new motors, certainly with the Fabia new prices are often more favourable than used.

Yeah it does shift a bit, have accepted an offer on it and a buyer is hoping to pop down on friday with a briefcase full of cash so I will be looking shortly....

Like many of you on this forum I have had a few Imprezas, and am now sick of the boy racer image and every local criminal trying to nick it, plus the 1K insurance so I got the Monaro, lovely V8 roar, very rare and 30mpg WOW. But only 2 doors and no airbag shut off = baby seat nightmare so its had to go !!

That's spooky.......been down to my local Vauxhall dealer (Greens of rainham) to look at a Monaro they have for sale (used). The manager has one with a few bits added, very nice. Just checking insurance out at the mo.

Dan, budget for Octy +3-5k to get a wrx+ppp or 5-10 to get sti+++ feel of performance on an Octy, which begins to defeat the physics of FWD, but hey.

Not as much punch, but different...

Damn, too bad they don't sell those here in Finland, not that I could afford to buy one or even afford to maintain one. I've been hooked since I first saw the videos of that thing in action. Sure it's a heavy lump but damn does it drift nicely, and the engine sound, ROAARR

Anyway I bet skoda is the wise mans choice as they're practical and good performance for the money. It's just they're not the same wow factor sports cars like monaro, the plain fact of FWD makes this..

Hell yes thats me from Scoobynet

Its a shame to sell it but remember I have a baby due in 4 weeks and I suspect this may make me forget all about cars for a wee while, got to get my priorites right, the other 1/2 won't be working and I could do with as much cash in the bank offsetting the mortgage as possible !!

I totally understand your point, we just got our baby girl, she is 1 week old now and I'm the happiest man on earth Started thinking about selling my hatch soon and changing it for something more practical like fabia combi. Btw, I drive like a granpa now for most of the time (still like to drive sporty when riding alone though)..

Welcome to Briskoda. Even I am impressed with the spec of that car!

I see you are insured with LV like I am. Presumably you are up-to-date with their attitude to modified cars since last November?

welcome Dan.

look mate, if its a question of cash, why not sell the house and live in the lovely Monaro???
no mortgage, get a caravan for the family somewhere and keep the car you really want.

Seriously tho, found myself in a similar position about 14 months ago - i ditched the car and bought a Fabia VRS - must admit , it does the 'family man' job very well ; plenty of room for all the associated sh**e that comes with a baby. Dunno if it would stretch to TWO toddlers on a long journey though.

octavia vrs would have no problems coping i suspect.

What a lovely Monaro!

I'm sure you can find a Skoda that meets your requirements...

I'd recommend an Octy PD TDi of some description for a growing family! Jabba can work wonders on them too

Welcome Dan

I've seen the Monaro on pistonheads I'm sure - very nice looking motor. I tell you what seeing as I'm in a good mood I'll do you a straight swap for my Octy RS estate.

Jimmy I can tell you have a heart of gold, and I would *almost* consider your offer if I had not already accepted a previous offer consisting of a large wad of cash.

And as for you geordiesteve - I f**king hate pikeys so I won't consider joining their caravan club

Denis I have read about LV and their policy changes, however since I have had my policy long before they altered anything and they have not informed me of any policy changes then I'm still covered.

Fair do's Dan, fair do's. Although if the 'large wadge of cash' should fall through I'll still honour my offer - heart of gold and all
