| As far as I can remeber, that's the first mechanical fault I've heard about on the Haldex unit (and, of course, I keep my ear open for these types of things). The only fault I hear of is a sporadic fault with the memory inside the controller - a quick scan with a diagnostic tool will tell whether your vehicle is affected. I've noticed that two or three people have mentioned this on the board. Are you buying for a dealer (with a year's warranty)?

| my 4x4's drive train at the rear has been faultless over the last 2 years but due to high milage/an accident(possibly part of theproblem)/clutch failure my gearbox exploded a little while ago. is it the mk1 1.8T or the mk2 your going to look at?

| Private sale Mk1 1.8T posted on this forum and pistonheads, mjs4x4, 2001, no warranty.. he says occasionally, the ‘engine electronics’ symbol lights up. He is passing on the ‘fault code’ reader, apparently one of the cylinders is sensing that the mixture is a little lean.... Last edited by henry walker; 01-12-2006 at 19:25. |

| oh yes mine has been done, has your cambelt been don? if not then don't get a skoda pump as they have a rubbish plastic impellor, get a first line one with a brass impellor ![]()
