| Briskodian | Another Fabia VRS Ordered - March Delivery Hello to all, I've be lurking about here on and off for months now ... deliberating on whether or not to swap my Lupo GTi for a Fabia VRS. So after a fair bit searching for reviews etc , the majority of which were very favourable , apart from these ... Carkeys 2 Carkeys 1 ... I've now placed an order with Drivethedeal for a Fabia VRS with the following options:- 1. Xenons .... got these on the Lupo, and their bril 2. Black Pearl Paint ..... Current car is silver,,time for a change 3. Heat Seats ..Had A Golf TDI 150 that took ages to get warm..these helped 4. 3rd Rear Headrest .. Its £45 5. ESP .... I'd like to stay out the hedges 6. Side Airbags ... why not 7. Cruise ... lots of speed cameras about 8. Passenger Airbag De-activation .. £60 for a switch ! Should be standard. 9. CD Autochanger ... My current car doesn 't have a cd - I miss it. Plus local radio sucks. Was considering rear parking sensors, but not sure if they are available as a factory fit option and also not sure I'll need them in what is afterall a supermini? Certainly don't need them on the Lupo. List Price .. £14314 Drivethedeal Price £13004. Local dealers were not too interested in discounting the car, apart from one dealer ,Queensborough Motors , who offered £800 off list price. Also offered 8% discount on an unregistered Black Fabia VRS (with Cruise and CD Changer) they had in the showroom , plus a decent trade in on the Lupo. Decent guys I thought. Would have liked to have placed my order with them, and would have if they had been a wee bit closer to the Drivethedeal price. They reckoned they were only making about £180 out of the car at £13500. Considered a Leon Fr TDI 150 , as Arnold Clark had a couple of pre-reg 54 plates available for £13600, but decided the Fabia Vrs suited me better. Also, interior plastics seem better in the Fabia. Oh, and Arnold's trade price for my car was 10% lower then the Skoda dealers offer. So thanks to everyone for the comments on their Skodas (especially Furbys reviews) .. made my decision much easier. Cheers Paul L ![]() |

| Have you tried Tins? Just wondering how their price will compare with DTD? They were cheaper when I looked up standard vRSes. Steve

Dealer said he'd have the car within 10 weeks. So I hope to take delivery on 1 March or thereabouts. Not too worried if delivery slips a bit, as I need to sell my car privately. ... maybe March would be better than Feb for that. Actually, who am I kidding, I'll be counting the hours come Feb, so hope delivery doesn't slip. Although I did hear that the factory closes for 2 weeks around Christmas? So 1 March could be out.

Tins were slightly dearer .. £13144 Tried a couple of other brokers .. Micronet ... £12848 (heard too many horror stories about them) Drivetime Leasing ... £12795 (pre-reg to get fleet discount plus del to Glasgow was £150 extra) Carfile ... £13785.66 Local dealer more competative. Autoebid ..£12585 ... But I haven't heard of anyone who's used them. I should say that my DTD price included driven delivery from the Skoda dealer to Glasgow. The dealer has offered to trailer it for £50. Not sure what to do ,,, I think I'd rather go and inspect the car while its still at the dealers. However, £50 is very reasonable so long as the cars 100%. Last edited by plo; 09-12-2004 at 19:46.

Here's the dealer .. Clicky ...about 200 miles from Glasgow. I've got plenty of time to have a think about the collection/delivery. My real concern regarding trailer delivery is if their is a problem with the car.... sure their won't be, but I can be a bit of a worrier.

The DTD price of £13004 is the cost of the car plus all the options listed, On The Road, with myself as the first registered keeper. This is the price I pay the Skoda dealer. If I want the car trailer delivered to my home then that’s an additional £50....(this price was offered by the dealer direct). I believe DTD get a commission paid by the dealer. DTD basically take your order (plus deposit .. equal to the options price in my case!) and fax it off to the dealer. The dealer then posts you out a copy of the order (next day in my case) and the car is ordered. No hassle. I could have phoned around dealers far and wide and maybe saved a bit extra, but I feel DTD are worth their commission, as they are healthy competition for dealers... and I've yet to see/hear any complaints regarding their service. Hi Ross, Happened to mention to co-worker today that I was thinking (lying as I've already ordered one) about buying a Skoda ... the look of horror/amusement/astonishment (all at once) was quite something. I'll think I'll keep it quiet for now, as I can't be bothered discussing (arguing) the merits of Skoda ownership with everyone. Besides, he has a Renault Laguna (thats often at the dealers for warranty repairs)... so his opinion counts for nothing. Last edited by plo; 09-12-2004 at 20:00.
