clutch judder Octavia 1.9 TDI

My X reg Octavia with 70k on the clock has developed a clutch judder and "clonks" when going into reverse, just had it serviced yesterday and I am told I need a new clutch etc price quoted £916, help!!!

That is way too expensive! At most £450 for the clutch including labour.

Yes, way too expensive. My local dealer (Sparshatts of Fareham) fitted mine for less than that, including the £450 I paid for a Sachs performance clutch alone.

This was a dealer in Leeds Yorkshire, its driving me mad as my journey to my office is stop start for 1 hour, car is great other than that

I would think that price includes the dual mass flywheel, which if its clonking and vibrating is probably the root of the problem.

Ah, is that a common problem then Ross? I did ask in another thread this morning on behalf of a "friend" who has a 1.9 TDI (130)

It does include the flywheel, but still seems very expensive patent parts ?

Well if it includes the flywheel im not suprised its that much. Dual mass flywheel on its own is near on £400 its a massive hunk o metal.

And yes John it is quite common accross the VAG range.
