| Hi and welcome Landberg Had a drive of Fabia Combi once, found it handled better than the hatch TBH. Just felt more rigid.

| BTW: Here in Denmark I am one of the biggest importers of tuningboxes and therefore I know a bit about tuning dieselengines. Maybe I can also help with questions regarding this issue? I might also be able to make a great groupbuy if anyone is interested. The Fabia has allready had a Blaupunkt Bremen MP 74 headunit installed. Within the next couple of days I will install my Parrot CK 3000 bluetooth freespeak set. Then it is time to install the Boston Pro 6.4 in the doors, which seems to be a much harder job than expected. In the Octavia it was 10 minutes... Then I will install a Helix HXA 400 under the glovebox. That minimises the need of wires and the only wire I have to put under the carpets is the speakerwire for the sub in the rear. The sub is a Syrincs BP 10-200. I have bought original Skoda alloys 15" with Continental wintertires. They replace the standard wheels. In the spring I will fit 16" or 17", but at the moment I think it will be 16" because the suspension is already a bit hard compared with the Octavia and I will fit a FK adjustable suspension. I drive app. 50.000km a year and therefore it is a bit expensive to drive on 17" :-) Until now the car has only done 850km but I picked it up monday... With 3.000km on the clock I will fit one of my boxes and I expect it to hit 138hp and 360nm. The box is fully digital and adjust the opening of the injectors. With a laptop I can finetune the box specific for my car and I expect to make a "tabel-top like" torque-curve. I am looking forward to se how the economy develops. My Octavia 90hp drove 18km/l measured over 90.000km. It was equipped with 17" alloys. I think and hope, that the small bullit will drive app. 20km/l when it is "ready". BTW: When I install my boxes I try to drive a lot of different cars. I also talk a lot about cars with my customers, with the importers, the mekanics and so on. Maybe you can emagine why I now have my 3. Skoda.... ;-) |

| No The company I work for has a Data centre in Copenhagen, and have visited it 2x, and last November I took my wife to the Christmas display @ the Tivoli Gardens. My trips to Denmark have all been enjoyable. Altho talking to the Taxi Drivers about the TAX you have on your cars, it surprises me that you can afford to buy them. I also noticed that your fuel prices are the same as ours here. ![]() You will have to explain to the people here how the tax on cars works, I am sure they would not believe me. Steve

| In Denmark we pay 180 percent tax and 25 % VAT of the cars. Therefore cars are very expensive in Denmark. My Fabia 1.9TDi Combi Ambiente with aircon cost me app. 20.000£. The new Octavia 1.9TDi Ambiente is app. 26.000£. The reason that the price is not 3 times the price in England is that the factories sell cars cheaper to danes because of the tax-system. If we want extras in the autos it also cost a lot. In VW's the aircon costs nearly 3.000£. In the Skoda Superb the MFA system puts an extra 5.000£ to the price ![]() |

| Thats even more of an OUCH ! of a price than I was told. The Taxi driver quoted, Basic Car Price + 100% tax + VAT, but he did say they get a tax advantage for business use, but it must remain as a taxi for a set period of time ( can not remember how long.) Is that correct ? Steve

| The taxi-drivers only pay 20 % tax. They have to drive at least 2 years and 250.000km before they can sell the car without tax. Normally they buy Mercedes E-class and often they can trade the 2 year/250.000km old car for a brand new one without any payment. Then the used car is sold to a private user for app. 40.000£. |

| They should have Octavia SDi's, that is what a lot of taxi drivers use in South Kent. Steve

| You will actually see some Octavias as taxis in Denmark, but not SDi, because that version is not imported. But Mercedes is the most common model, mostly because they still have a good value after 250.000km and because the spareparts are cheap. I think that 9 out of 10 Mercedes sold in Denmark are used as taxis, therefore the prices on the street is not as important as the price on spareparts. If you could choose between a Mercedes E-classe at half price and an Octavia at half price, would you still choose the Octavia? |
