| Greetings fellow Skoda drivers (and other interested parties!) I've been a Briskoda member for quite a while but never really looked at the site much (tut tut) and as I'm about to visit the mighty JabbaSport I thought I'd better make my first post and guarantee myself the 5% discount! I'm a second time around Skoda owner, with my first car being a second-hand Estelle 2 GLS - it had alloy wheels and a vinyl roof (s******.) Cost me a couple of grand to buy and over the next 12 months I spent a further £750 on it in repairs - hardly a good introduction to the world of Skoda but hey, this was in the pre-VW days. Jacked in the Estelle after 14 months and bought a brand new Lada Samara, then a new Lada Niva (an absolute lemon), and then another new Lada Niva. After this I went to the doctors who prescribed some drugs to make me come to my senses. My first car designed in the same decade as the one I was living in was a new Renault Megane - not spectacular but competent and million miles away from my Eastern Bloc friends. A Ford Focus followed (a fantastic drive but why did I buy the unpractical three door version?) This leads us onto 2003. After driving a colleague's Fabia SDI I thought, hmm, nice drive, well built, good value. I went to my local Skoda dealer and ordered up a 1.2 54hp Fabia Classic with electrics pack. Engine was eager and willing from 0 to 30mph and then everything went sloooooooow. I thrashed the nuts off it for about a year and decided to take the plunge with a Furby vRS. I was averaging 17,000 miles a year so a diesel seemed to be a good choice - and it was quick with it. 17 months and nearly 27,000 miles later I still get a big warm feeling inside when I plonk my bum down on that comfy (but rather marked) sporty driver's seat. My brother also owns a Furby vRS and has just had his Jabba'd. I've driven it and yep, I want some of that too. I'm booked in to see Mike in two weeks' time and boy, those two weeks will feel like eternity... ![]() |
