| HI, Pretty much settled on a fab vrs as my new company car. ive got the best part of £3k to play with options IVe settled on the xenons, side bags as musts. Not interested in the sun roof. Im not to bothered about the magic paint one im a lazy git so i cant be bothered cleaning a car twice a week so it would cost me a fortune at the wash and i do a fair number of miles so id have to go to the wash again (p.s. i had settled on yellow). My dilema is that I like the idea of the sat nav (I cant aftermarket modify the motor so if I want sat nav this is my only route). The brochure says if you take this you are advised to take the autochanger. Iknow if you have the standard audio option you cant play tunes and use the satnav at the same time. 1) Can you use both audio+nav if you have the autochanger+sat nav option? 2) Is the sat nav any good? bearing in mind if I dont take sat nav i could pretty much clean up on the other options this was my thoughts on options Xenon Side airbags Sat nav autochanger cruise be great if you could help!! ![]() |

| You could get something like a TomTom Go that just sticks to the windscreen if you want sat nav. Cheaper than the Skoda one , and more powerful. You'd just have to persuade the company to pay for it for you

| one thing to remember - if its an option on a company car it will be part of the taxable value so will increase your company car tax! .But an after market add on like garmin or tom tom can be bought seperately and may escape tax if you are lucky but at the worst the value will be about £500 rather than £2-3,00 so you will gain from getting it seperately. To sell the idea to the company tell them about the purchase cost savings and also that the ubit can be transferred to the next ( or loan) car rather than replacing i- you do not get the value back when the car is sold on. Another important gain is that removeable units can be plugged into a pc or laptop whereas installed ones cannot and it may seem like much but if you have a lot of addresses to input this can be a huge advantage! you will not ahve to modify the car to fit it , Garmin include a "bean bag" mount that works and you just plug the unit in and yes it is well worth having it marc

| I done it on my company Octavia VRS, I'm pretty lucky in getting a generous benchmark, I got the Octavia because it was such a good car, and incredibly cheap, I got it kitted out with factory Sat Nav also, I so prefer it than add-ons, it's built into the car, I like the directional arrow which comes up on the dash-board, it's so much neater, but yes, you'll pay tax, the good thing with me is I'm going to replace the unit with an OEM CD player before hand-back.

| The Skoda SatNav headunit can be got on ebay for circa £500 if you are funding it yourself. Portable SatNav's are very good these days. Yellow - Will have a lesser residual than other colours, not an issue if you aren't buying yourself. Black isn't hard to keep clean, it's a myth. We have a CD changer but to be honest an MP3 adaptor would be better, if you want the headunit to control the MP3 then you may lose the CD changer (Although I have heard of some people managing to get both working)

| 1) Can you use both audio+nav if you have the autochanger+sat nav option? Audio as far as radio, as you are aware the unit cannot directly play audio cd's- a seperate converter non-vag would be required if composite phono inputs required. If sat nav not purchased with cd changer its probably a waste unless you dont play cd's. I would only go down this route if you want the OE look. Its an expensive option, if a good seperate sat nav can be purchased seperatly using your own cash maybe this would be better and get the other goodies instead. 2) Is the sat nav any good? Navigation wise - Yes its fine similar units have been fitted to VW's Audis and Skoda's for many years unchanged to any great degree. It made by blaunpunkt (sp) map discs (teleatlas) are in the region of £100 - 150 each. A seperate disk is required for each country required, apart from major roads of westen europe that will take you through ajoining europen countries. A UK disk for sure and maybe the western europe disk may be supplied with car. The unit blends in with the green coloured lighting in the car. As an audio unit I dont find it as good as the standard radio at least in teh Superb and Octavia - cant speak for Fabia. |

| Black easy to keep clean????????????? What do you do order HI to do it? Also found the black shows scratches very easily ie pale undercoat. Considering yellow myself but must admit residual value is a concern as it will be a private purchase, having said that looking in autotrader yellow cars aren't nescasarily the cheapest.
