Hi all from Octavia TDI 110 Elegance

Hi everyone. Ive just purchesed a 2003 Octavia. Ive been a VW Golf person for the last 6 years, and reluctantly changed last week. I haven't looked back!

I was a frequent member of the Performance VW mag forum and found it incredibly useful. Hopefully i should be equally as impressed in Briskoda.

Im near Belfast in N Ireland so if theres anyone else from the emerald isle (north or south), i would like to here from them. Especially for their help on tuning companies and parts/ accessory suppliers.

Cheers

JD

Welcome to Briskoda, JD.

As an ex-Golf owner, perhaps you would like to contribute to William's current thread below about Golf v Octavia build quality. BTW, William is also from NI and is bored with today's weather there.

Hi william,
Its 2003 (may) 15k on the clock and very clean. Bought it in Agnews VW Mallusk.

How come you have two Octavias? I had the golf tuned with a HOPA Tuning box and a K&N panel filter. It ran very smoothly. Im thinking of doing the same to the Octavia. Might use a Dragon Tuning box which are Ł299 retail, but Ł150 on ebay, brand new.

And yes the weather is ****. Im sitting in the office in Belfast City centre looking out at the cloud. Although it isn't raining any more (touch wood)

Hi Agnews at Mallusk recently offered me a brand new Passat Tdi for less than the price of an Octy Classic TDi. I have to Octys because the 1.6 is driven by my wife and the vRS by me, but we actually both travel to work in the 1.6 each day as I do not fancy parking the vRS where I happen to work. Neither of my cars are tuned both standard. I think the insurance is to big an issue over here. It was hard enough getting affordable insurance for the vRS.

My insurance went up by Ł300. The golf was a group 8 CL TDI, and the Octavia is a Group 9 or 11 (depends where you look). I couldn't believe it. Its also prob because the value of the octavia is about 6 times the golf.

My best qoute was through Autoline in Newry and Abbey who both use Prestige. I wouldn't like to think what it would cost to insure a vRS.

William, I have been trying to edit my profile, but all i can see is a view option. What am i doing wrong??
