| Finally feel qualified to talk to you lot having read the pages frequently! Just got my Fabia VRS about three weeks ago and just getting used to it. There seem to be literally dozens of Fabia VRS s on the Isle of Wight - I reckon must be the greatest concentration of them in th UK-any of you lot out there hurtling in the oppsite direction?I seem to have the differential noise mentionned by 'Aerofurb'. I'm going to ask about this at the first service ( i bought second hand with 8000 miles on clock). I had a gearbox/diff pack up on my Polo GLX out of warranty and that cost £835 including clutch! My car has the Contisportcontact 2's on. Punctured on turning in very slowly to a rutted football ground car park. Couldn't believe that I could do that driving so carefully! Quoted £140 for replacement by FH Winters Skoda dealer on Island. Will probably go for the equivalent Avon with Nice tread pattern for about £70 from ATS as this is now just for the spare, unless anyone knows of a very cheap source for the contis!? Would like to try a remap & eibach springs but want to leave the car standard for insurance- has anyone with a modded car used Chris Knott Insurance? I'm using esure and paying about £350 for the year ( 36 years old, 6 years no claims, parked off road, fully comp). I'm getting 56MPG, sad I know but that includes at least 'one blast' per journey and hilly island roads! IF you see another VRS (mines Black Magic) and you live on the island gives us a flash! Cheers Ian aka Navarino |

Both sales blokes are Ray and are both obliging and very helpful, have given excellent trade in money. They are far the best garage I've ever dealt with and will continue to buy from. Servicing can be pricey but is always good. My best mate Alan was a mechanic for them until today!!!!! Any other questions let me know! So where are you and what you driving so I can give you a wave????

| Way hay! another islander, welcome I ended up going with Freeborne in Southampton as nobody could beat their price. I always look out for fabia vrs drivers to check them out , most seem to be older tho'. I saw one parked at the hospital this afternoon (silver) and a red one in Osbourne garage on the way home. I drive a black Golf cabrio (MK1) at the moment until I get my black beauty in March, give us a wave if you see me.

| Hi I'm gutted as I haven't looked at this thread for ages - no one replied to it for ages! I'm also gutted because I came on here to sell my VRS - not through choice, got an overdraft to clear ![]() I'll keep a look out for you all and may see you the day of the planned briskoda Isle of Wight invasion (14th Jan 2006) I live in East Cowes. Cheers Ian |

| Well, when the 9.30am from Southampton docks in, there'll be a few of us disembarking for some IOW exploration. How much is diesel over there. ![]()

| Will try and get down for that arrival if wife and kid allow! Diesel is about 0.91 or 0.92 but at the Yarmouth end of the Island theres a very expensive Garage about 0.99 or over a pound! Best place to fill up is actually your side and is the Shell Garage on West Quay road Southampton trouble is its on the carriageway heading away from the Red Funnel Terminal but about 0.88 per litre so worth going around the round about for once you see it if coming from the west!cheers Ian |

| I am coming from the west. I'm guessing we dock at 10:30. I might try and make an itinerary up of the day. Some local knowledge would be handy. ![]()

| Red funnel should have an 'Island Visitor' magazine on board. Also might be an idea to grab a map of the island although road signage over hear is useless. Where are you heading to first out of East Cowes?

| I don't know Pixi, but I'm guessing it won't be north? ![]() A full circuit will have to driven - I suspect a clockwise drive would be nice. Might do some research and post up in the proper IOW invasion thread. ![]()

| Avoid the A3020 between Parkhurst Prison and Cowes as I understand they are doing roadworks and putting temporary traffic lights in which creates hold ups there - not the most scenic road on the island anyway! |
