| Hi, i'm new to the site. Have recently started looking at getting a fabia vrs, I have always been slightly wary of diesel engines but I really like this car. And was wondering what it sounded like to run as lots of people seem to have resorted to soundproofing the engine. If i do get one i'm looking at modding the exhaust, will i have to approach it differently as its a diesel in order to get a decent exhaust note? ta |

| You won't get a decent exhaust note at tick - over will allways sound like a tractor ![]() I have a Milltek Turbo back fitted to mine and bellow 3000 rpm sounds quiet but with a nice note, above that turns into a lovely growl, well worth it imo.

| ah ok, just looking to stay on top of the insurance costs so do you think i would just be able to manage with a back box. Or does the standard vRS make a decent enough noise? |

| Doesn't sound too bad as standard, take one for a decent test drive , back box will improve noise but without either de-cat or sports cat will have less effect on performance whilst still requiring informing insurance !

| Hi Sod the exhaust note - just get one bought. A really impressive little (but surprising what it will hold) motor. Bought ours at 16k - now up to 30k 18months later. Last week in the really really hot weather we got our 1st ever 'glitch' - electric windows and mirror controls swapped over for 10 mins, then reverted and are now fine. That is our 1st 'fault' with it quickly when the other half is not around) i.e. slowish over road humps and letting engine oil getting warm, not mashing the foot to the floor in high gear at low revs etc.
