Default New Fabia Vrs owner

I have had the car for just over a month and have to say it is one of the best drives I have had in a diesel.
Great driving position, good control layout, and best of all lots of fun.

The only gripe I could muster is the position of the power socket / lighter, it is a real pain when running a portable sat nav unit. if any of you can suggest a means of adding / running a power feed in a more suitable location I would like to know more.

Welcome!

Maybe some kind of 12v extension would do the trick?

I would wire the unit in properly. Looks more pro than having wires running over the place to the lighter socket. Try and find 12v that come on with the ignition and just wire it into that. Stero might be a good place to look.

I have the pocket pc and tom tom and indeed its a pain and looks messy.
might well need a visit to an auto electrian, or better still get the vw sat nav retro fitted. Thats a good excuse to get the 6 cd changer I have been looking at!

Aha!

I've sorted my tomtom setup and have it permanently wired in.

In the end, I obtained a spare switch cover you have above the head unit, drilled one large hole in the middle to pass wires through and then put a pair of small self-tappers either side to then fix the cradle onto. It's relatively neat, and there are no wires. I'll find a link to the pics in a sec

Edit: here are the pics

The gps receiver thingy is on the dash, front left. Wire is squeezed between trim and then goes behind glovebox
