| Briskodian | Hi to all; a few words of introduction! Until about 4 weeks ago, DH and I had very clear motoring choices. His - a rather tasty Triumph motorbike; mine - a similarly tasty (in my opinion at least!) Peugeot 206CC. Sadly now, we have one trashed bike, one husband in a plastercast and one semi-pressing need for a bigger car with an autobox. A friend suggested Octavia might be the way to go; I've test driven one and fallen in love! Thought I'd find out what they're like to own, drive, run, etc. All comment and advice gratefully received. |

| Re: New to Site, New to Skoda Hello and welcome. Would make a good choice the Octavia. I think they drive very well, and suspension is well set up for British roads. Good levels of kit and the boot space is huge. Hope the recovery goes well. |

| Re: New to Site, New to Skoda Welcome and nice intro. The Octavia is a very competent car which in most cases seems to please it's owners. I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

| Briskodian | Re: New to Site, New to Skoda Hi and thanks for the welcomes! I fear perhaps I'm being over-specific but I've been looking for a 1.8T, preferably in Estate (though so far have only driven Hatch, is Estate more "boomy" inside?). Probably Elegance spec though if we could find an L&K I'd be tempted; it would give me the bells and whistles of my current toy :-) Flexible on age; budget is around £5k as we need to keep something over for the husband to have a run-about when he's ready to go back to work. |

| Re: New to Site, New to Skoda Welcome ![]() If you need the boot space there isnt really much difference between hatch / estate ( except the lower floor in the hatch). Not noticed any boom in the estates that I had been in, maybe this was due to the boot cover being on.
