| New Skoda owner Hello, Following the recent death of my father, I recently inherited his January 05, Fabia 1.4 16v saloon. It had 8k miles on it, I have recently put 2k milea on it in 2 months, my impressions of the car are: Good: Small compact car which feels solidly built, the doors shut with a solid clunk & the engine seems lively & responsive. Bad:The drivers seat is uncomfortable & leads to backache after a few minutes. I consider the fabia saloon one of the ugliest cars on the road, the boot is far too short & looks like an afterthought, it holds a fair amount of stuff but isn't versatile to swllow larger things such as lawnmowers and the folding rear seat isn't a split seat. My wife likes it so we are keeping it as a second car. Regards, Trebor |

| Re: New Skoda owner Hi again, My first car is a 1999 Rover 414 16v hatchback. 40k miles on the clock (was also my fathers before he bought the skoda 13 months ago) The rover has hydraulic tappets that are really rattley when the engine is cold for the first mile then they quieten. I know this sounds insane but I prefer the 7 year old rover to the 2 year old skoda because: It's a hatchback so it's much more versatile than the fabia saloon. It is 7 years old so I don't really mind where I park it. I thrash it regularly to 6000rpm in the knowledge that if it does go bang, I havent suffered much monetary loss as a 7 year old rover isn't worth much. So in conclusion, I'm happy to drive the rover & leave the skoda for my wife to drive. |
