| Hi All Although I've owned a 1.4 100bhp petrol Fabia Estate since Jun 2002 I didn't know this forum existed until today. The car has been brilliant. We have three boys and the concept of a small car estate, which isn't unattractive is ideal for us. It has sufficient room to handle the university runs and the insurance for the boys to drive it isn't too expensive. In summer it acts as the surf dude car loaded up with boards for the trip to Newquay. The only problem we have had with it was a nearside window motor. Failed when four years old. Otherwise cheap motoring and a really pleasant car to drive. 38-42 mpg thoughout the 4+ years we have owned it. Because the children use it so much I wanted another. Test drove the new estate, but Skoda has dropped the 1.4 100bhp petrol engine. Does anyone know why? The 1.9 diesel was Ok except for the noise. VW really need to do something about this. Anyway the garage wanted £13,000 which I thought was too much for a car with an engine I didn't want. I stumbled across a 2002 1.9 SDi Fabia estate in a local garage. 86,000 full Skoda service history. Same colour as mine, classic spec but with a/c. £3050 with full MoT, cambelt done and recent service. It drives like a dream, but wife drove it last night and said something wrong with the clutch. Sure enough pedal was stuck down this morning. Hence why I stumbled across this forum. Pedal released Ok and all is fine. Will post for some advice in the relevant thread though. Thanks to Colin for starting this site. ![]() |
