| Hi skoda fans. im in the market for a new car with about £6k to spend and am stuck between a Skoda Octavia 1.8 VRS Turbo, Fiat Stilo 2.4 20v Abarth Selespeed and a Saab 9-3 HOT Aero Turbo. The Skoda is my first choice but the white leather and carpets puts me off a bit (not very practical). Anyway what are these cars like to drive and own? and any advice on what to look for when buying one of these plus any tuning tips would be much appreciated. I figure the money will get me a 2002 model. ![]() |

| Hi & welcome. I would steer very clear of the FIAT I had a Stilo and it was nothing but problems. The Arbarth is a nice car could do with a bit more power and I have heard bad things about the Selespeed gearbox. If you want space and a great drive then go with the Octy Vrs, I own a 05 and it is loads of fun, I have 2 children and white carpets there are a few stains on there but nothing that wont come out with a good valet. The kid’s seats sit on terry towels to protect them. Sorry I have no experience of the Saab or tuning my Vrs is totally standard. There are plenty of very clever people on here who can give you the information about the Saab and tuning. |

| Welcome ![]() I guess tuning tips will depend on how far you want to take it. They can easily be remapped, but it is a slipperly slope and there are members running reliable 350bhp from their's. ![]() Chris

| Tomo, avoid the Fix It Again Toni like the plague! Otherwise I'd be inclined towards the SAAB by the Octy's interior (more the carpets than the upholstery). Either is very tunable reliably; check the Skoda Support -> Model Specific Help -> Octavia forum and Site Sponsor links for ideas on just what can be done with a vRS. |
