| Hi Folks, Briskoda forum is a godsend. Been researching company cars for a while and reckon the Octy 2 is a brilliant package and fantastic value. I ordered an Octy2 2.0TDi manual Elegance in silver with Onyx interior, Curtain airbags, ESP, TPM, Maxi-dot, steering wheel controls & Light Assistant. Can't wait until delivery at end of October. The other guy in the office went down the VW route and got a VW Golf Sport 1.9 TDi without any options. My Octy 2 cost £4 more a month than his car but it's a world apart from the Golf even in Elegance standard spec. The image mattered to him I suppose but he went for a test drive with me in the Octy and now feels seriously ripped off. He'll just have to live with the Golf for 4 years I suppose. The only dissapointment for me in the Octy is the audio system. The Golf has 6 speakers in the front doors and doesn't suffer the lack of midrange in the Skoda with a Stream HU. I refused to pay an extra £620 for the Audience HU for 4 extra speakers, a useless equaliser and mp3 playback from CD. I have my own harddrive mp3 player which i'll install anyway. I'm counting on the new Octy 2 Stream radio having an AUX input as reported on the forum as the alternative solution will cost £70 unless I can be bothered to build the DIY VWCDPIC adapter. I'm eyeing up those perfectly positioned bottle holders in the doors for locating midrange speakers powered from a separate amp. I just have to figure out how to do it without damaging the door trim. I wonder if the 12 speaker loom is fitted to all models as standard. Not much chance of that. One other dissapointment was my Skoda dealer's lack of knowledge about the Hands-free phone integration. The user manual indicates that the phone will mute the radio, use the front speakers and interact with the Maxi dot display for phone book etc. The phone cradle also moulds to the dashboard. The dealer confirmed by phone that the kit would do all this and would cost £271 fitted (which didn't bother as my company pick up the tab). When I rang back to confirm I got someone in the service dept who said that the kit simply muted the radio and directed the sound through front speakers. He said that the kit doesn't have the advanced maxidot features and that these functions only work with VW models. I told them to stuff their kit and will get a Parrot CK3100 fitted by others which will do the same thing, include Bluetooth and costs a lot less. I'll post any news... |

| Welcome - I got an Octy vRS estate as my new company car a couple of months ago. Loving every minute of it so far. I followed a Octy2 2.0TDi on the N/W meet this week (Lozparry's????) and it seems to have ample power. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I'm just trying to convince a colleague to get an Octy2 - he's currently got a Golf tDi estate, and Ive told him he will get more room and more toys with the Octy2 estate. He's almost convinced, but he's having some badge snobbery probs with his missus! I'll show him your comments anyway!

| Minor issues aside, I think i'll be happy with my choice. With regard to the power of the 2.0 PD Tdi, take a look at my other current thread, I think you'll find it interesting. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showt...802#post393802 |
