Vrs rear brakes groaning

Hi Folks, I just registered so Hi everyone. I'm the proad owner of a lovely Rally Red (or
should that be RED as it's so bloody bright!) 2001 Octavia Vrs. I've had a recuring problem with the rear brakes groaning when reversing, My local Skoda garage (Barkers in Hull) claim its a known fault with the Vrs and are waiting to take delivery of a fix kit which is being shipped from the factory. Has anyone lese encountered this problem, I have new discs and newish pads so it's not those. any help would be appriciated.

Re: Vrs rear brakes groaning

I have it. Appeared when i changed the rear pads and discs.

Wouldnt bother sorting it, if it only happens in reverse.

Hi mate.
It's a well-known issue (but only on the vRS for some reason), but the fix seems to cause as many problems as it cures.

Cheers for the replys - I know it's only in reverse but its really embarrasing when your in the supermarket having just waxed it, Wonder Wheeled your alloys and your feeling this is a great car only to back into a space with a groan that sounds like the wheels are about to fall off!!!

Re: Vrs rear brakes groaning

Hello & welcome

I have a Fabia vRS and the brakes groan in reverse (also known on here as mooing) when you reverse.

There is a fix for the brakes, mine is going in in a weeks time to have the rear brakes done.

I think it's something to do with an extra item they add, like a shock absorber or a weight, Somebody like Lummox should know, he's realy good with the technical quetions.

Not sure if the same applies, but there is a fix now for the Fabia.

Enjoy the site,

Ben

Re: Vrs rear brakes groaning

Yep, I had the fix applied to my octy. I believe it's the same fix that's applied to the Fabia. Unfortunately the rear brakes screech everytime I come to a standstill now going forwards. The loudess of the screech varies too. Wish I hadn't bothered with the fix now... But I've gotten used to it.

Have a seach for "mooing" on here and you'll find a few threads on the problem.

Welcome btw!
