Default Irish Meet - Gandon Inn Portlaoise 1st October

Right all its been a while since we've had a decent meet, so whose interested in meeting up at the www.vagdrivers.net meet see thread http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3708 ,time's will follow closer to the time.,

Directions:

From Dublin:

Take the N7 (Main Cork/Limerick Road)

Once you get on to the M7 after Johnstown just keep going until you pass the 'Welcome to Co Laois' sign. The exit you want to take is the one after this I think. It is the exit for Mountmellick/Killenard/Portarlington

Take this exit and turn right across the bridge, keep going until you come to a T-Junction/Roundabout

Turn left and the place is about 100 metres up the road at the top of a hill. There is a petrol station beside it you can't miss it.

From Cork:

Head for Dublin.

Once you get onto the M7 at Portlaoise keep an eye on the signs for the exits, I think the one you want is the 2nd exit. Its the one that says Mountmellick/Killenard/Portarlington.

Turn left here and take the next left at the next roundabout/T-Junction

The place is about 100 metres up the road at the top of a hill. There is a petrol station beside it you can't miss it.

Looks like we will have to change your pills Gaff, first, some people might not know how to attach their names to the lists, second, some people might have to wait until nearer the event before them can commit to it, third, if someone is annoying you with text messages, "that they cant make it," take it out with them and not with the happy people on this web site CHEERS!!!!

I'm keeping my options open . I'll either be in Kirkestown or at the Gandon. I won't know until the day.

Hey Big Mac, Its hard to organise something when people don't respond, you did so and the above was in no way aimed at you . The thing is if people don't make the effort then meets will eventually just not happen as without getting numbers then you just can plan anything (eg group discount for a Rolling Road without a group ). I understand that people have stuff to do, but a reponse would be nice , I sent about 50 texts out (I just sent them to people in the Republic...thank god for free texts), ya wouldn't think theres that many guys floating around here and when you hear back from less than 10 it's a bit dishearting.

true but the stupid question is the one not asked, everyone knows how to reply to a post and if they don't then they can ask. IIRC I did say in the text I'd put there name up if they want

Again true but look at the going list, theres name's of guys with stuff inside the brackets, it just gives an idea if there's a chance they can make it. Least if guys reply with, yes, no or maybe then you get an idea where you stand. If nobody replied and I had organised a meet and due to lack of numbers we cancelled it but never posted (due to nobody interested), and people turned up they wouldn't be too happy. The other thing about yes, no & maybe is at least I know then that they are aware of it, and I don't send them other texts incase I didn't already send one.

I'm not taking anything out on guys that replied, I've no issue with that, we don't have numbers but at least they made the effort at doing so. All I'm saying is that people could at least reply. If they can make it so be it.

But just look at the number of things we've tried to organise over the years, and the level of interest. Its getting to the stage now of why bother really as nobody is interested. I can very easily just contact the guys that regularly turn up, but I try to get eveyone involved and sometimes you need to post the above to kick start people into replying. Maybe we should do something where everyone organises something so they can see what its like and how frustrating it can be.

Btw what's wrong with my post, I called a spade a spade. Its a Vag meet and I thought that this being an enthusiasts site that it would interest people. I have tried to arrange family commitments around what was been organised on here as theres no point organising something with just the people on here as you just won't get the numbers.
