Default Remaps in Ireland

Now that I've been paid, I would like to get my Octy remapped, what options do I have over here?

I understand that the remap will have to be for 95ron fuel too as I've yet to find a station doing 97ron. I hope this doesn't restrict my options even more!

You can have a remap for 95RON, no problems at all.

I remember one Irish member had a remap while on holiday in England whilst another had a tuner send a device to him onto which he uploaded his map - this was then sent back to the tuner and tweaked before being sent back to the owner and re-loaded.

Northern or Southern Ireland??

There are upsolute, revo and superchips dealers (generic maps) i know of. Upsolute in Dublin, Revo in Cookstown and Superchips in Lisburn. Im sure there are loads more, just depends on what you want and how much you want to pay!

Well I'm based in Southern Ireland but I don't mind driving north. Just don't fancy the ferry back across to the UK as it's not exactly cheap and I don't want to take a day off work.

Not keen on REVO and had a lousy experience with Superchips on my last car so not keen to give them my money again.

Looking for a progressive map that doesn't push the turbo past 1.1bar of boost. I'd rather it be safe than all out powerful.

there are a few around dublin....upsolute and revo are about half an hour away, superships are in the town centre.Star preformance will do a one click type of operation by post, jabba will do the same but you will have to send the ECU itself. there are a few others who do custom codes but i havent heard of any results so far.

There is also westward engineering in Enfield, revo and upsolute afaik, revo is fairly well regarded now for a no frills map and their torque figures are pretty good

around 630 yoyos at the moment, hope to be heading that way myself soon...

I wouldn't go the Superchips route again. I had one on my old Peugeot 306, and it made the exhaust smoke like bejayzus! I might look at Revo at some stage (Westward seem to have a good reputation), although with the milage that I do, I would probably be better off keeping the engine standard.

I'd have to stand up for actually going to Jabbasport. Even though they're across the water, they are well worth the trip, even for the drive back to the ferry!

its the ferry that puts me off if there are any future issues to be honest,
Martin in Westard has very good rep and has been tuning motors for donkeys with a good background in actual machining and engineeering
I know the revo is a compromise as is the standard map but I cant see myself ever making the trip also my experience of the box giving up with 180bhp makes pushing for a 230 a little worrying for me

Uspolute are around 400-450 yoyos AFAIK. Much cheaper than the competition, and do the same job.

I haven't heard of anyone with any serious problems yet.

I think they are all much the same to be honest.

I'm gonna go with Upsolute. For 400 euro it's very cheap and he says I can get my money back and go back to standard if I don't like it. Plus he must be a whole 5 minutes drive from where I work!

I don't fancy the Ferry either as it's not cheap and I can't afford to take a day off from work as I'm on contract. If I had to go back to the UK and take a day off it will just cost me way too much.

Let us know how you get on. It'll be interesting to compare the mappings on the cars.

Did chezmate not have issues with Upsolute? In the end got it taken off as their map was not suitable for the RS!

You can get a 5 hour revo trial at westward and a 30 day money back if your not happy and ECU does not need to be removed!

This upsolute dealer doesn't need to remove the ECU, all done via the OBD port. I have read that the old Upsolute chips were solder on and they weren't very good. Where did Chezmate have his done?

Hey Lads,

There's a crowd in Dun Laoighre that do custom remaps. They have a mobile service. I rang them the other day about remapping my pd 105 which I've ordered. Around the 450 euro mark. Should safely bring it up to 145bhp. Check out the website www.autoremap.com. There's a link for a BMW forum where 20 of them had the remap.

In Greenogue Ind Est in Newcastle. I think the chaps name is Peter. But like Smithy says I don't think it was specific to the vRS and it totally changed the characteristics of the engine i.e. reduced low end torque, so he decided to put it back to standard.

Just hijacking your post for a moment. I have been trying desperately (with no success) to locate companies who do ECU re-maps in Ireland. Im from the north of Ireland myself and have recently got a Fabia Vrs. Can you give me more detals on Revo and Dave Wishart in Kells as id like to get a re-map in time for the summer. From the sounds of it Upsolute don't sound too good or is that just me thinking the worst from the comments I have read?

Thanks and would appreciate a response.
