2.0 DSG 140 Diesel Startup Issues

This problem only seems to happen of a morning after the car has been sitting from 6:30 pm overnight until 8:20 the following morning.

I come to start the car, leaving the glow plugs to warm up. Most mornings it tends to struggle for a couple of seconds to get above 400rpm then it fires into life. This morning it was hovering around 2/300 rpm and took 3 attempts to start the car. 2nd and 3rd time i had to use some throttle.

The dealer wants to keep the car overnight (for obvious reasons) to see if they can replicate the problem.

I had the idea that it was linked to supermarket fuel as i tend to use Tesco and Sainsbury for my fuel, but i havent really been able to prove this yet.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Can't think it would be the fuel. Does it run fine once it's started? Does it do it only when it's cold/wet weather?

I only use supermarket fuel in mine, and dont have any issues. My glo-plug light goes out almost as soon as I turn the key, indeed I just get in, and go straight from position 0 to start the car without stopping in the middle. Car fires up and idles fine straight away. Mines a 55 reg, with 38K on the clock.

Yeah, once its fired up it runs fine, its just that massive hurdle in the mornings. Its seemed to do it every morning, although this morning the ground was wet.

Forgot to mention its 55 Reg with 42K on the clock, although comparing that to Mannyo's, it should run fine :s.

I don't like supermarket fuels, but that's just an observation.
I'm more suspicious about correct operation of the glowplugs, or an air leak.

In a low pressure fuel pipe yes, but you've got the effect backwards. What it does is put an air bubble into the line, which then has to be compressed and pumped through the system in order to get rid.
