3rd brake light failure - Fabia

Hi All.
The third brake light on the wifes Fabia has packed up and I was wondering how easy these are to change/test.

Nothing more to say really.

Cheers

Re: 3rd brake light failure - Fabia

the 3rd high level brake light is wired in parallel to the other brake light, so if the others dont work, this one wont either. i suggest checking to see that the wiring harness plug hasn't become loose/disconnected through constant slamming of the tailgate

Re: 3rd brake light failure - Fabia

That's a good point. I'll give that a check, as the other brake lights are fine

Re: 3rd brake light failure - Fabia

IIRC, there was a bit of a spate of these going on new Fabias about 3 years ago. Don't know what came of it, but if the car's new enough it can be fixed under warranty. Don't know if this is related, but I've seen 3 VAG cars with the outer-most LEDs of the 3rd brake light lit all the time - is this the sign of a problem?
