ABS & EBD adjustments

TaviaRS posted: Fri Dec 06, 2002 12:28 pm on subject:Stopping power

"Whack some DS2500s on the rear, some DS3000s on the front, reconfig the brake balance and the ABS kick-in point and you will feel like you are going to go through the windscreen! "

As I can't get a response to the above from TaviaRS through P.M. , I address
this question to you.
Does anyone know how we can adjust the Abs kick in point?
Is this something that can be done by Vag-Com or by a hardware change?
Where can we find info about this adjustnments?
Thank you for any help.
Merry Xmas to all.

Stavros,

There are 2 places that you can get this information from and who can do it for you.

They are Volkswagen motorsport and Superchips (who do the ECU work for the race Golfs). The settings are used for racing and as such are not ideal for the general public in normal road use. Before doing any changes to the braking system be sure that you really, really will benefit from it as it does change the way the car drives in a very fundamental fashion.

[b:d51b3d9c0b]I would strongly advise that you do not attempt to do this yourself unless you really know what you are doing and what results you want to get from the work[/b:d51b3d9c0b]

What I want to do is to just raise the ABS trip point in all wheels. I think it's a bit sensitive.
Also it would be a good knowledge if you want to upgrade your factory brakes with others.
I read from a link at Vagsport, that an upgrade to the factory brakes doesn't necessary mean
less stoping distance unless you mess with EDL & ABS settings.
Anyway, that's too heavy for me & I don't have such knowledge & intensions!
Just from curiosity, can be done with VAGCOM or you have to dismantle
the ABS to find the inner workings?
