| might be but you are talking about some big dollar before you've already got the car. How old are you and can you afford to insure a car with such mods.

| Yeah, i ve checked with my old insureance comapny- they said its fine (FYI its vauxhall isurance shockingly) I have no ncb, but i will be 24/25 when i get the car. and intended to by the car outright and then save and pay out right for the mods. I am aiming for around 250bhp hence the fmic/gearbox mods. Am working on a total budget (car+mods) of around 10-11k maybe 12 if i have to Am doing as much of my home work now, so i have a clear mod plan ready for the car once its sat on the drive. Fail to prepare- Preoare to fail as they say. So I'm getting as much info from all the tech bod from here and soaking all the desial (sp) tuning knowladge here |

and the budget for chassis/brake work is around 1500/2000 which i have saved up already. so this is purly for the go-go-go stuff Already done some reaserch from shockingly fast ford for uprating gearbox for diesals(again sp) got a quote from the company in there for it all. cheers for remainding me though. so total budget goes to 15k. But would be worth i feel. And before any one asks what made me decide this route see devontopia- saw his videos and the rr run and wanted it with the fuel econmey Full Budget Progections are Car- 6000-7500 Engine work- 3-3.5 Chassis/Brakes- 2k Transmission-1-1.5k Total roughly- best case= 12k Worst CASE- 14.5 | |

| and the only clutch capable of handling that sort of power is the spec stage 3+ and billet ally flywheel, please have a ride in one which has this mod(ie mine or jasons)as there is probably a really good, noisey, really bad in traffic, and vibrations that will knock your teeth out, reason we are the only idiots with this setup, there are quite a few on here who have ridden in and seen one or both cars,if you are going to the extremes of power then do beware there is a real compromise on comfort, noise and vibration levels, and they are also a real pain in traffic |

| Thanks for the info there oliburinnut I'll bear it mind. I'm going to look at getting all the work done in one hit- not going to take my time with it, just save for the car- buy it- the save for the mods- take the car to somewere (amd/awesome whereever) get the work done a few weeks/a month and then its sorted Everyone think this the way forward? Whta is everyones recomendations for a quick/resonable state of tune for the fvrs? I mean personally from my ltd knowladge so far i would of thought the amd kit + fmic + uprated clutch+ Bigger brakes + Koni adjustables/ FK Coilovers+ rr remap/live map+ uprated poly bushes+ gear box work? Just so you all know as well, i wouldnt be driving to work very often either (most likly get the train) So having the car off the road for a day/week is not a big deal for me This almost going to be a weekend toy. but it is sometimes going to be used to get into the office. And have i read on here that some one has the brembo brake set up from a cupra r? P.S- Can i just say thank you to everyone for the really helpfull advise on this- Some owners clubs ive been on have been very unwilling to offer help like this and have basically posted random, well bull****, pardon the language, which in turn has made me not want to buy the car. Really liking this place Last edited by ScottyVrsless; 17-06-2008 at 08:26. |

| Personally I wouldnt bother with the AMd stage 3. Heres how i would attack this modding, well in fact I have done most of the following myself. Clutch, sach have just released a SMF-organic clutch setup rated to 400lbft, ie more than enough but still nice to use daily. Coilovers, KW V1, wouldnt touch any others. Brakes- the audi 312mm brakes are more than enough, plus you can keep the orginal 16 inch wheels Exhaust, just loose the cat. stage 2 turbo dynamics turbo forge fmic panel filter and pd160 pipe then a remap, that will see you about 230bhp and 370lbft. ie more than enough. Then you can move onto things like diffs and big injectors. but then it gets stupid in costs.

| Buy a second hand Clio 197 and save the rest... MPG is shot after all that work and it wont be a huge amount faster nor feel like as good a performance car. My 2p
