Anti-corrosion warranty Hi everyone, I had my Octy into the dealers for its 30k service yesterday apart from a cracked ARB all was well. While it was in I asked them to have a look at the tailgate as it had corroded under the rear window seal (bottom of window). They said it was covered under the warranty and its booked in for the beginning of December to be sorted. Can anyone tell me if it would be a rub-down, fill and paint job or due to its position should it be a new tailgate job? cheers

Re: Anti-corrosion warranty Rust never sleeps and once it's in there aint no getting it out without major surgery. I would have thought a new tailgate would be in order.

| Briskodian | Re: Anti-corrosion warranty Problem with rust is that it is porus to water and air, unlike say aluminum oxide which forms a protective layer. Ad decron said one rust is ther it will resurface ![]()

Re: Anti-corrosion warranty Thanks for your advice guys, just confirms what I was thinking. Don't quite a bit of work in bodyshops and as you say rust doesn't go away, the only way to get rid is to cut it out, or in this case replace the tailgate. Just wasn't sure if Skoda would replace if it hadn't perforated (going on a neighbours experience with Renault) Will call the paint shop on Monday and ask what they intend doing. Will update when known. Regards Ian

Re: Anti-corrosion warranty Contacted the dealer today and they are indeed going to replace the whole tailgate, even though its just surface rust, so very impressed with that Sent an email to Skoda asking what their policy was...... and for some reason they have taken the email a a complaint against the dealers..... which is a bit bizarre seen as I was just asking a question ![]()
