| just wondering if this was a possibility in the near future for the 1.8t? I love the results jabba get, but the simplicity and ease of uploading a new map is also appealing especaily as most can be switched back to standard for commuting/warranty work etc... does anyone reckon this is/will be possible in the near future? Cheers Fergal

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but there seem to be two different "serial port" uploads. One seems to be a one-time program upload, and then you switch the map yourself using a box. The other seems to be a whole program upload each time over the serial port. The first of these methods is visible to your dealer, if they looked hard enough, whereas the second (is this the method used for the one-click diesel engine dongle?) is not evident, as you simply upload the whole original program before sending it to get warranty work done. 1) Am I right? 2) IF 1 = True THEN Why can't this be done to 1.8t engines? ENDIF |

| IIRC....REVO do not do a custom remap via OBD port. Their standard map is generic although you can play around with the settings using the SPS3 unit. When I was looking into it, it would have cost around £900 fo rthe basic map plus, SPS3 unit, plus the 98RON and security programmes. I'm not sure whether AmD do "one click" for the 1.8T.....Ross can confirm. AmD remap your car on the rolling road and then you use the "one click" module to download it to the ECU. I prefer this route to REVO although I think AmD maps do err on the conservative side (nothing wrong in that though).

| I was talking to ross Yesterday at the Essex meet, and he was saying why they are a bit conservative (at least with the PD engines). The engine can obviously only handle so much power and torque and by being on the conservative side allows for a less chance for something to go wrong(Basically). They could get the PD130 engine to over 200bhp easily, but the resulting torque would be unusable as there would be so much (the Fabia struggles with the engine as standard). If any of this is wrong, than i am happy to be corrected as i am generaising the conversation.

| The fact that AmD offer a warranty on some (if not all) of their remaps may have a bearing on the figures achieved being relatively conservative.

| thanks Dave i've looked at the Revo but its a generic map rather that one optimised for my car/fuel etc Im hopping for something like the jabba but without the soldering of the ECU and even better if it was switchable...cheers
