| Guys, My wife 2001 Skoda Combi 1.6i automatic transmision has suffer this problem today . She was in a parking lot and call me that with the engine running she can not move/shift from P to D. So I ask her: are you pressing the brake? She says yes. Well I drive there and check on the car manual about fuse #11, so I take the fuse out and then I can shift in order to take the car to the dealer.......Its look like the swich at the brake pedal is damage because the rear brake light also does not come on when I brake. Two things that I notice as soon I took out the #11 fuse is that the small square in the center of the instrument panel, the one with yellow digital display letters is completely off. EAVEN when I put again the #11 fuse it not turn on. Do this display use a separate fuse or maybe get damage/blow when I took out the fuse???? Do they have to reset this with the VAG tool???? Also the airbag light is ON. I asume they will have to reset the air bag but my concern is the digital display on the centert of the instrument panel because my warrany finished What you think?? | Well, I confirm you that the problem was the brake switch. Also the dealer reset the computer. The airbag light turn off and the display is working OK. So you guys out there if you experience this in your automatic car, just take out fuse# 11 and you can shift. Eaven that my wife car does not have warranty any more, The Skoda dealer fix it without charging me nothing Isaac Last edited by Turbo_Boss; 25-01-2004 at 16:21. |

| Well guys, this time happend to my 2002 Octavia L&K and since I know what was the problem I decide to take out the brake switch to see if I can repair it myself. After taking it out and remove the contacs it look like one of the contacs was burn. So I took a sand paper and remove all the carbon deposits and thats it. Just be carefull not to bend the contacs. So take your time. Also if you going to use contac cleaner, make sure the one you pick is save for plastic. If the contacs are out, you can check them with a volmeter for continuity in order to check your repair but when the switch is assembled after the repair, if you want to check your repair with a volmeter pressing it, it will look like is dont work, so If for any reason you do this repair, you will need to mount the switch back on the factory location to tested with a volmeter. Here are some picture for you guys in order that you can save some money .Good luck, Isaac ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() .....
