| Briskodian | Felicia not starting Hi all, im new here I have a '98 Felicia with the 1300 MPI engine. Its sat for a while as Ive been using a company car, so I started it on friday night (bit lumpy but then it has sat for a couple of weeks) I took it a spin, let it warm up and within 10 mins or so it was running as sweet as a nut (as usual) The car is well serviced, just flew through its mot and is as new.....until Last night (Monday) I tried starting the car, the engine turned over fine but just didnt fire up, it didnt even try to fire, just kept turning on the starter till the battery died..... I dont understand this as the car was running fine on friday night and hasnt been touched since ![]() I didnt have time last night to check if the plugs were wet or if fuel was / wasnt getting to the cylinders but any advice? Also i dont know how normal this is but when i turned the keys round to one click before start you couldnt hear the fuel pump whir, is this normal? PS there is petrol in the tank LOL.............. |

| Briskodian | Re: Felicia not starting Hmm I dont know if that could be the problem - surely if the immobiliser was on the blink the starter wouldnt work either? Or does it work by cutting off the fuel pump? |

| Briskodian | Re: Felicia not starting Any way of getting round it? or will I have to buy a new unit? Thats slightly annoying!!! Can you reset the immobiliser? Why would it have been triggered if the car hasnt been used? Thanks for the advice ![]() |

| Re: Felicia not starting normally it's a fault associated with the ignition keys going wrong..... there are ways round the immobilizer but i'm not going to comment on that in a public forum |

| Briskodian | Re: Felicia not starting Is it a case of getting the keys re-programmed? We have both keys and neither works :s Would disconnecting the batt for a while reset the immob? |

| Briskodian | Re: Felicia not starting Update!! I got home from work, the car started on the key!!!! so the wife took it to work the next day, got her there and back without any problems at all. Next day, started on the key again, got her to work no problems, but when she finished work it wouldnt start!!! just kept turning over and over. So we left it there overnight, I came up the next morning and guess what? It started on the key first time!!! drove home no problems :s Really frustrated now, ive been driving the wife to work in my own car as she is scared it will let her down again, any ideas? Someone told me I should change the wee sensor on the thermostat, but I cant see how that would make any difference? |

| Briskodian | Re: Felicia not starting sounds like a damaged arial on a non contact imobilizer circuit. No idea if your car has such a circuit mind.
