Default Fuel light lottery

How low do you let your "miles left" in a tank go? I go down to ten KM then run it for a day before filling up......what about anybody else and how long have you left it before you panic and fill up?

do the jeremy clarkson method, run till you get the light on, then when you get the sign telling you how many miles to the next petrol station, pick the furthest one and go straight past it,

if you win, the missus gets in the car the next morning and has to fill it up, if you loose, you run out of fuel

On the Octy I've let the Mk2 go 50 miles after the light comes on, the mk1 went 60miles. Although I did run out in the mk1 one day

It all depends how its driven once the light goes on.

My record is about a third of a mile after the engine stopped. I coasted down the hill, turned (right, on a main road) into the petrol station, and filled up.

That wasn't a Skoda, but it was a VW.

I did simething like that in a fiesta I used to have. It ran out just as I pulled into the petrol station and coasted to the pump.

I got from Preston to Carlisle with the orange light on in my 07 plate VW Transporter...
It was struggling for the last few miles, but made it none the less.

I managed this in my old Vectra. Got down to 0 and got to the crest of the hill that the fuel stationw as on the other side of just as the engine cut out. Managed to get into the station with just enough speed to spare! Couldn't have timed it better!
