getting a little annoyed

Only 2 months into Furby ownership (2000 W 1.4 16v) and just getting a little annoyed. Its now back at the dealers for the 4th time to have the yellow engine warning light investigated, previous fix lasted 13 miles !

Anyway they have given me a 1.2 HTP triple, can't believe how fast it will bat along at (upto 50 ish) towards mine , sounds great too over 3k. service manager said its a torque optimised design.

Beginning to think mine is not too well at all.

Did they say what was causing the warning light to come on previously?

1st two times the emissions control 'box', yesterday it was the EGR valve they replaced, haven't said what it is this time yet.

Thankfully its costing the dealer ££'s as its under the 12 mth approved used Skoda warranty.

Forgot to mention, they also replaced both front wheel bearings

Had a similar problem with a saab but didn't get out of the service bay before the "check engine light" came on. Went back in and launched the keys at the service manager then went to the pub and got p1ssed

Sounds familiar

Sounds a bit like the problems I've been having. My car has been with the dealer for 2 weeks.

They think they've found the fault in the actual wiring loom (Thank God for warranties ) but it'll be a few more days before I get it back.

Up to this point they had laid the blame at various bits and pieces:
ECU needing to be Flash Programmed (new program came out about 3 weeks ago for the 16v engine)
The Dash Panel Insert not quite working right
The Brake Switch needing replacement (the car was also loosing power)
The ABS control unit and pump (No idea why they picked that one)
The lambda sensors around the catalytic converter

In addition a Skoda techie person I met at the motor show suggested a possible earthing fault.

One thing the service manager commented to me on was that my engine did not feel like the 16v engine. If you can get a test drive of another 16v engine that might show up something else.

Good luck in getting it sorted.

Neil - "new program came out about 3 weeks ago for the 16v engine" - Sounds interesting, as I'm thinking along the lines of a firmware upgrade, but sadly I know it probably isn't (and equally sadly my dealer wouldn't know anything about it if I asked!)

Mivec - if you're near Colchester and want to drive another 16v, let me know

The program is an EPC Flash Program and the dealers should have the disk. Hopefully your dealer is equipped to do it.

It should have arrived at the dealers at the start of this month. If they don't know anything about it Vindis at Cambridge do. I'll be collecting my car in a few days, I'll see if I can get the precise name and post it here.

I don't know as the car has been in for two weeks. THe service manager told me it was idling slightly higher after the flash programming was done, but that's as much as I know.

Mivec, as you are local, can I ask which dealer you have been using?

Thanks.

My engine warning light's been on for...er, think it's about 4 months and 6k miles. Trouble is, it's intermittent, so there's no guarantee it will still be doing it when I get it to a dealer.
They did look at it once, said it was the temperature sender which they then (apparently) changed. Light came back on during the journey home, which isn't all that far.

Car runs fine so I've stopped caring about it.

Ian, i don't suppose it's libel ? The one in Bury. Had a call from the Service Manager today saying i shouldn't have been told i could take it away on Saturday lunchtime, he wants to keep it for a 2/3 days. Pity i couldn't have the vRS demo as my courtesy car

It does not suprise me it's part of that chain, I used to use their manchester dealer until they told me I needed a new engine at my expense... and "didn't care if I paid for it or skoda paid for it"

Strangely I did care, so removed the car from their premises and fixed it myself, was just blocked oil galleries, couple of engine flushes and an oil change at it's running fine.

Stimps - Finally got my car back a couple of days ago but was unable to get the version number of the new flash program.

Sorry.

Thumbs down

Our warning light keeps coming on for no reason. Ignoring it now as getting a little annoyed.

Latest,
now booked in FOR A WEEK or until it's fixed . Was told they'd just sold the vRS demo so can't have that, back to a 1.2 Classic for the courtesy car. If anyone gets the flash update details please let me know .

Thanks
