| Golf V5 Hope I am posting in the correct forum. Lady in work has a problem with her V5 Golf (99) basically the abs and brake handbrake light are flashing. I have enclosed a picture, but she has been told that the ABS pump has failed. This is from an independant dealer. However she has been told it is a £400 part. She has not ordered the part. As a favour I hope to get some information to see if this is correct or that she is being had so to speak.

| Re: Golf V5 Could be an ABS sensor also perhaps. What about the handbrake switch, would the ABS go a bit mad if the handbrake was still caught on or dragging on the rear wheels? Whatever you do I'd phone around for parts prices as a £135 starter that the garage was buying from `GSF` for a colleagues golf, turned into a £65 part from GSF with a bit of hunting.

| Re: Golf V5 If she can get the fault code from the garage that would help us to confirm it. All else fails get her to price the part up her self to see if they can do it cheaper with labour only |

| Re: Golf V5 I'd think a sensor is more likely than the pump. Why (in the absence of a positive fault diagnosis) do garages so often seem to go for the most expensive possible part to have failed first these days!? ![]() |

| Re: Golf V5 it won't be the handbrake as if you leave it on all it does is beep and flashes the handbrake light, the ABS light doesn't come on. buy a local member with vag-com a pint and see what it says.
