GS-D3 s are good tyres, fairly soft, excellent turn in, good in both wet and dry conditions.

Im running GSD2s (my local tyre place had them in 225/45/17s at a good price) and find them good - esp compared to the std Dunlops.

Done 18k on them now - swapped Front to Rear after doing 10k on them - and still lots left. Got 19k out of the original set of Dunlops.

Good allround tyres IMHO - but havent tried any of the track type tyres for grip

had gsd3's on the front of the 19 for well over 12months and found them to be very good in all conditions, theres actually some corking video clips on the goodyear website for when they were testing the tyres on different cars. Or at least there was when i bought mine and wanted to find out more about them.

i`m involved in the tyre game and would recommend the F1s i have them fitted to my octy vrs in the 225 45 17 fitment they are a big improvement on the dunlops not only with less noise but with superior grip....check out goodyears site on the GSD3`S

I would recommend them as well I have had them on my Legacy Turbo Estate. They are so good you tend to take them for granted in the dry OR THE WET. Grip is superb. I have had some wear on the outside edges of the front wheel but that probably because the way I go round bends and rounabouts with them. I have them on 16" standard Impreza alloys. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for...if the tyres are no good...no grip...no barking...no car catch my drift (excues the pun).

I hope that helps.

By the way I have had the geometry all set up 'driving orientated' at TSL Motorsport...well worth doing so that may explain tyre wear. Something has to give...better handling more tyre wear?

You can 'phone and ask, but because they make such a disgusting profit on the tyres, some chains will be unwilling to fit customer-sourced tyres. Your best bet will probably be a local independant but there's no harm in 'phoning around for quotes first.

Kenny, find yourself an independant tyre fitter. Don't let Kwik-Fit's Spotty Monkies anywhere near your car

Kenny,

Would guess the GSD3s should be around £450 a set fully fitted and balanced.

Paul..

My local tyre fitter wanted £12 per wheel for fitting and balancing with stick-on weights. In the end I went with blackcircles.com and used their fitting inclusive option which worked out just slightly cheaper. Couldn't be simpler either. The tyre centre was only 100 yards from the one I phoned for a fitting price - both are within half a mile of home.

Can someone remind me. Is the std vRS tyre size 225/50/17?? But the 45 section tyres are fine as rolling radius tolerance is within limits.

I use Amateur Tyre Services to fit any tyres I buy, and they do a good job. I feel this could be down to me doing the work through my firm's trade account, so they do a good job to keep our custom. Plus it's only a fiver a corner for fitting including balancing (as long as I took the tyre away, which for me is easy as I have a free source to offload them... Make wonderful silage cover weights. )
