GSF Car Parts

can anyone tell me if they have used GSF Car Parts, cheap car parts direct to you for anything for their Skoda.

I am pricing up a new clutch and flywheel and they seem pretty cheap, does anyone have any experience of their parts - they good quality or a bit cheapo ?

Thanks

Re: GSF Car Parts

Excellent quality, usually the same make as OE but often better. They sell metal impeller water pumps and Dayco cambelts which last longer than the crappy Continental belts VAG fit which last only 4 years. The brake pads are Textar or ATE - same as OE.

One of the major advantages of owning a VAG vehicle is the availability of pattern spares and software, due to these cars' high European market penetration. Going to VAG for fast moving spares is a sheer waste of money.

Re: GSF Car Parts

just leaves me with another question. Anyone know of a good gargage or mechanic in or around the Bristol area that could fit the parts without boshing it like a dealer ?

Thanks

Re: GSF Car Parts

Some GSF parts are OK, but others are a tad sub-standard imho- at least, that's the experience I've had with Corrado parts. Never bought anything for the vRS. Things like bushes, engine mounts, shocks etc seem to fail very quickly.

VW Parts - Audi Parts are much better imho. Nearly all the parts are Febi/Bilstein which are at least as good as OEM, but cheaper. Always had brilliant service too.

Maybe a bit too far for you, but Blake Services in Thrupp near Stroud are brilliant!

Re: GSF Car Parts

Asked what make the parts were from GSF and he told me they were LUK and said that they were top end parts. Is that correct, are they ok ?

Re: GSF Car Parts

Skoda Use LuK or Sachs for their DMF's in the MK II Octy IIRC and yes LuK are a big name.

Re: GSF Car Parts

thanks, can someone tell me if the slave cyclinder should also be replaced at the same time ? Is the slave cyclinder inside or on the outside of the gearbox ?

Re: GSF Car Parts

It is outside the gearbox and doesn't usually require replacement.

Re: GSF Car Parts

I've used GSF for years, and if you buy their OEM quality stuff it's very good. LUK supply VAG as an OEM: they are very good quality.

Re: GSF Car Parts

GSF also distribute Bilstein in the UK too, so they're a cheap source of dampers and springs.
