Has anyone had an AMD remap? (Or do you all speak Jabba'ish?)

I'm looking to have my Octy Elegance remapped, I appreciate that everyone says Jabba is the way forward but AMD are literally 5 mins from my house.

Bearing in mind I wont be doing any other mods I dont see that I really need a remap to be specific to my car.

So, whats the verdict on AMD?

I've not heard a bad word said about the straight forward AMD remaps...

Makes sense I guess as they are right on your door step

I don't know how much power the Octy Elegance has as std (150 bhp?) but I should think AMD could be easily able to get 200 out of it which is a massive increase by any-ones standard !!

The Elegance is 150 as standard, the Jabba web site quotes increases to 200-230bhp. Being standard with no intentions of going bonkers on performance enhancinh modifications I guess I would be around the 200bhp mark.

I know it's a vRS but it may be of interest. Andrew's AMD mapped Octy put out 112bhp at AMD's rolling road day. Result as posted my Mr Clarke in this thread...

That must have been running on diesel to get that sort of output!

AmD were paid lots of money by me to do many things. Car is going back on Wednesday for a tweak too. Car goes extremely well as so it should for the money, but there again, I didn't have just a remap. They seem to know their stuff and I have never had any reliability issue with the engine after they hiked the power up substanially.

More expensive than Jabba, but then they are only minutes from your doorstep so why not. In my view its pays for use Briskodians to have a bit of variety in our cars.....

If they are that close to you its a no brainer, local service is a big plus. I think you'll find that all of the main players are very good, all know their stuff r.e. the 1.8T and all achieve near as damit the same figures in real life.

Can't argue with the "Go local" opinion if you don't mind the (small-ish) additional cost

I still don't have a "local" tuner that i would use (or trust), so Jabba it is for me

Remap figures for the 150 bhp engine depend on the engine code (throttle cable or DBW). Do you know your engine code? Hint - it's in the front of your service book...

Hi,

I'm running an AMD remap on my car. Admittedly its a diesel, but I can't fault at all.

A very friendly company who seem genuine about customer service.

Well, AmD have replied to my email this morning and confirm that there is no One-Click for the 1.8T. However, they will do a rolling road remap in about three hours in return for £646.25 ......... Dear Mr Jabba.... . . . . . . . . .

As I have said previously.....all the major tuners are much of a muchness and the deciding factors come down to....location, price/value for money, customer service.

I have 2 places left for the current Jabba remap group buy.........if you're interested.

Normal price is £475 but with our discount that's £427.50......PM me for details.

Cheers.

Goochie - I'm just around the corner from AMD & my Furby vRS has seen the inside of the AMD workshop. Downside - they are bloody expensive, upside - they are just around the corner; particularly if anything goes wrong.

Had the car since June 1, AMD visit at 9,000 miles, now at 17,000.

Had the remap done for driveability rather than out & out performance, very little increase in smoke, great increase in "old" driver's grin.

They did a good job, and I've got them to put the original ECU settings on a stick just in case !! Send me a PM & we can chat if you want.

Normally as soon as 5 members have signed up for it. You don't have to get your car done immediately and you will be advised what period it is valid for. For instance, I signed up for a group buy in June or July and have until the end of this year to get the mod done - or even later if Jabba's 4WD RR isn't operational by then. (The latest as of today is that it is in their new premises but the rear wheel rollers aren't functional yet.)

Oh right, well i have signed up, just waiting for the go ahead now, itching to get it done now is it worth having a Dump valve fitted at the same time?

Well done for signing up. Many do opt to have a DV fitted with a remap but it is a DIY job if you want to do it later. Mine was fitted immediately after the remap. Given the choice, I would put the money towards a variable boost controller (£167 fitted less 10%) and fit a DV (circa £90) later.
