A sequence of photos for coil pack replacement is in the Gallery. The first in the sequence - ie Coil pack change 1 - is here. Look in my Gallery - Members - DGW - Technical Pictures. There are 7 pictures in all showing what is involved.

Cheers Dennis, knew i'd seen pics somewhere. Hopefully the AA or the dealer will do the job tomorrow. We'll see in the morning.

Update... The AA has been and didn't have spares. Coil No 4 has gone. And they are ALL TYPE H COILS.

Friggin car dealers. B4ST4RDS!!! WHY WERE THEY NOT CHANGED WHEN THE CAR WAS SOLD TO ME OR WHEN IT WAS SERVICED BEFORE SALE 4 WEEKS AGO ?????!!!???

NEVER USE RIDING & CO PRESTON.

Sorry, I am very angry.

Phew, now I feel better.

Tow truck is on the way to take the car to Gorners in Warrington who can only look at it tomorrow.

took mine in for a faulty brake light switch, the night before my mirror got broke. whenh i went in i told them about the mirror, when i picked the car up the mirror was fitted, the brake switch replaced and they also replaced all 4 coil packs as a precauton becuase they have had faults with them in the past, all in about 1 3/4 hours from dropping it off.

i like my local dealer now

I'm just annoyed the dealer haven't carried out what they should have done according to a Skoda Service Bulletin - ie replace type H coils of all used car stock, or cars in for service as a precaution. Instead I got the usual 'never heard of that blah blah, only happens on older cars blah blah' and I end up suffering the inconvenience for their incompetance.

I suppose I am just sick of being ripped off and fobbed off by so many car dealers over the years.

The best thing is that the AA man said even if he had some spare coils he's not authorised to fit them if the cars under warranty. He has to tow it. How ridiculous is that?

IF it's an 03 car they will have assumed it has the new coils...

Possibly lazy, but they're only working on what Skoda tell them

I'm not one for sticking up for dealers, but in this case they "might" be innocent..

Nope, it's a March 2002 and the vin number falls slap bang in the middle of the range specified on the bulletin.
