Unhappy Help needed sourcing discontinued part

Hi everyone, i have a 1994 FAVORIT LXE plus that's just failed it's MOT on a dashboard switch that is no longer available from the dealers. Does anyone know where i can get a side light switch from? Preferably ASAP as the garage won't release my car until it's fixed!

The garage CANNOT hold your car on an MOT failure......

But for the fix... try a scrappers.

Butts of Bawrty - Garage Equipment, Car Workshop Tools, Motor Parts and Accessories, Nationwide, Uk - Skoda Parts & Accessories - might be able to source the part for you

Re: Help needed sourcing discontinued part

from what I userstand you are allowed to drive it to and from your "nearest" MOT centre for tests.

However the garage not releasing your vehicle is different to being able to drive it home.

Just to add to this - I'm not 100% sure on current legislation - but I think it will need to be a pre-booked test when you take it back again

Re: Help needed sourcing discontinued part

afaik it has to be a pre booked test when you go to take it back and id of thought youd be fine to take it straight home aswell after a MOT. but do not drive anywhere else or even stop at the shops as in theory you are uninsured.

Re: Help needed sourcing discontinued part

Before you pick the car up check with the garage how long you have to repair the car to get the free re-test, as this can vary from the end of the following day, to up to (i believe) a week.

If you have to pay up to £50 for another test it might make a dearer but closer switch better VFM.

Not being familiar with the switches on the Favorit, are they headlight/sidelight switches combined, or seperate ?

Re: Help needed sourcing discontinued part

the headlight and sidelight switches are seperate, the issue being that they are combined on the later model. THe guys at butts of bawtry are fairly sure the one they are sending me will fit, it's from the 1993 model but he assures me they are compatable.

not sure why a 1993 switch is redily available but a 1994 one seems like gold dust. Anyway i'll let you all know when it arrives if it fits in case anyone has the same problem.

Re: Help needed sourcing discontinued part

Ahh..best of luck then.
I found a Headlight switch, hence my reason for asking.
Not to worry.
