Ideally you need a box spanner mate. But if you've got purchase on it and it just wont turn, give some penetrating oil a go... They will be stiff for sure.

Re: HELP please! Top mount nut...

They are really tight, I managed to bend a hex socket into a nice spiral trying to undo mine!

As already said - lots of penetrating fluid and hard work

you do have spring compressors clamping the spring ?

its a lot easier to undo if access to an air impact gun is available

Re: HELP please! Top mount nut...

Thanks for the tips guys;

I do have spring compressors. Should I be fitting these before I undo the top nut? I thought I would be using them once the unit is off the car?

I do have a compressor but no impact gun, perhaps I should invest, I take it if I use one there is no need for the hex wrench in the middle?

cheers
chris

Are you saying that the nut should go clockwise to undo?

I been turning anti-clockwise on the nut and clockwise on the hex/bolt.

Re: HELP please! Top mount nut...

the nut will undo anti-clockwise

you need to get the shocker off and the spring clamped before undoing the nut

Re: HELP please! Top mount nut...

You should 100% be clamping the spring before undoing the top nut yes!!!
