Question How much for first service??

I'm really sorry if this has been covered before

My Octy vRS is coming up for a year old. We've only done 8k miles but it's due for its annual service.

How much am I likely to get stung? and what will I get for my money? I bought the car from Prestons in Forest Gate, with whom I get on ok. Or I can take it to Transcity in E17 (where I bought my last octy)

TIA

Ian

You can take it to any authorised (read: Skoda UK approved) dealer, and costs can be anything between £100 and £200... hope you are on the former side though.

Ouch!!!

I can't see there being too much to do, it's been looked after, but for the sake of the warranty.....

EDIT - Just spoke to Dave at Prestons, he says about £110 (plus vat I guess)

My 10k service at my authorised dealer was under £80, at that price why look elsewhere - if you get lucky !

The type of oil used can make a big difference in the bill, ie Longlife oil will cost a lot more. Ian, why isn't your car on variable servicing? My 4X4 is due its first service soon at 2 years and some 9000 miles.

I've seen a vRS come in at 27000 miles as a first service!!!! Is that unusual? He was a company car driver?

If on variable servicing then the service was at least 7000 miles overdue; and if on fixed, then 17000 miles overdue. And to quote from SkodaAuto new vehicle warranty: To obtain the full benefit of this warranty it is essential that the vehicle is properly serviced in accordance with the Manufacturer's instructions.

Hi,

I think it is on variable, but then to keep up the warranty, I thought it had to be serviced at least annually?

Ian

Is this right Denis? I thought that on variable is was dependant on the ECU deciding i.e. service indicator, or when 12 months were up....which ever was sooner.

The longlife oil is expensive....I think it was around £56.....mine was serviced at 21.5k and cost £178 (would have been £198 but I get a 10% due where SWMBO works).

If on variable (ie QG1), the car must be taken to a regular inspection no later than after 2 years or after not more than 30,000km (rounded to 20,000 miles) in the case of petrol engines. If the variable Service Interval Display indicates that a service is needed earlier, it should be serviced as indicated. My 4X4 is now indicating 600 miles to a (first variable) service with 3 weeks to go to the 2 year point and some 9000 miles total.
