Got up from Nightshift today, to be informed by SWMBO, that Drivers side wing mirror is broken.

Was so tired this morning Forgot to push mirror toward car

The mirror was actually pushed away from the car, the glass is completely shattered, and the underside of the casing cracked badly. The driver must have been going some in order to Shatter the glass.

So 1 Question please, I know there has been a post recently where some else had theirs broken & repaired.
Could someone please let me know How Much it cost ? as if it is within my excess, then wont bother with the insurance.

Had this happen a few years ago... a bus took the mirror clean off! Never stopped, by the time I had got out side bus was down the road.

Just the grief you don't need when you get up!

Can't help you, Steve, but you have my sympathy.

The glass is about £40 on its own, and I suspect that by the time you've had the new casing sprayed it will be expensive.

My sympathies about that. Always a fear of mine since I always thought it wouldnt be cheap to repair. I religiously fold mine in when parked on a street. Sounds like you did too, except for this one time

A lot of a time bus drivers can clip mirrors and not feel it, so don't feel bad if they don't stop. I read that cars are getting wider and this is posing problems for drivers of wide vehicles in getting past, so sometimes it's and accident. Bus drivers can do this deliberatly too. A word of advice, don't park in a bus stop in Glasgow they will clip your wingmirrors off for the inconvience to them and other motorists, a sort of vigilantly justice. A hairdresser near us used to park her Jeep in a bus stop religiously, and had a bus smash her mirror. She mentioned that it had happened 4 times previously and her insurance company didn't cover it as it was parked in a bus stop. I suggested that it might be because she parked in a bus stop which routinely held traffic up for minutes as the bus unloaded.

That other thread may have been mine, happened about 8 months ago now!

I hunted around and in the end just took it to the dealers. You'll find it will cost you about £140 to get it fixed!

However, you will now fold back your mirror every time without fail!

I know I do!

The annoying thing was I very usually do, but as per original thread. Came in V tired.

Good news- Just picked car up Mirror done YIPPPPEEEE. Dealer will send bill for me to pay , adivsed to expect 155 - 170.

Well at least its done, i now feel i have a WHOLE car again. Felt like i didnt want to drive it coz it was damaged

Now done & 1 Clicked

When I said "No its not" I was referring to the fact that it may or may not be "adjusted", just so as to protect the owner from the possible problems such things may make in the eyes of Skoda UK
