Incar Gauges (boost Et Al)

Has anyone fitted any aftermarked guages in their Skod? Particularly boost guages... If so what make did you buy and where did you put them?

I saw some really nice ones at Disco's the other day (Defi?) and they looked good

The Octavia doesn't really look like a load of guages in the centre of the dash would suit it (as opposed to a Scoob for example). So I guess there are 3 options that might work:

1) On the dash in the corner by the A-pillar
2) Mounted on the A pillar
3) In the spare stereo sized slot under the stereo.

Anyone got other ideas?

On the left hand side of the steering wheel ? I always thought that was a nice space to put stuff on (like TFT) as it is flat and wide...

How do these gauges hook up though?

Id like a bank of 3 gauges fitted in the DIN slot under the dash ...maybe boost , oil temp and one other...a better water temp one perhaps?....are there any kits that would fit?

i found a pod on the net that fits in a 1 din space... cant remember where but will find it....

Paul, you are scaring me now, first you beat me to the DTM mirrors and now you're reading my mind with regard to SECS device. Its one of the products that we do for Subarus, and I've asked the question for Skodas, I'll update you soon.

I love the Defi stack I have in the scoob, but dont think displaying them that way will suit the Octavia. I think normal gauges in the DIN space would be nice, but I prefer larger more visible ones, I think an A pillar pod would be perfect.

Shame I had already planned to get one of those electric sliding TFT's for the spare DIN space underneath the radio...

dont unless you want to tint your windows and buy cat1 / large alsation.. had 2 tft's first got knicked from wifes Civics in manchester - second from my CLK on the drive on Christmas Eve... they even used one of those magic grabbers to unlock the car and then totally stripped it even the changer and cables - I thought it was me leaving the car unlocked but the plod confirmed mine was the 5th bm/merc to be done this way that month.... still it wont stop me getting another one day

I do want to tint my windows (the darkest tint legal), and I will probably get a decent alarm fitted as well... Not sure in which order it all will be done, but I'm taking your advice in

They can do that? Fscking unbelievable! I thought the key and car used the code only once, which means that it is no use capturing the code? Maybe I do need to get out more... Or life in a more crime infested area

Paul; There will be a SECS device available for at least MY2000 onwards Skodas, hopefully within two weeks. It will be like the top of the range version available for the Impreza S1003/S1004 http://www.impreziv.co.uk/Interior.htm but not as expensive as it wont come with the pod enclosure like the Subaru version does. It may also be without the shift light function as the data relay is too slow for this function.

Finally got round to fitting my boost gauge, but don't know which colour wire to connect to at the back of the lights switch for the light in the gauge, any ideas.

If you've got 2 wires, a black and a yellow one, then I bet the yellow is for 12V, and the black for ground... but I won't be hold up in court for it

Cheap I think not, Pivot gear is not the cheapest in the world but they are big (80mm) and with me eye sight thats a bonus

It's black and yellow alright, the black is defo earth but what colour wire do i connect the yellow to on the wiring loom. the obvious place would be the back of the head light switch IWOT.

Ok, here's a novel idea. How about in the driver's door pocket where people usually put maps. It fits 3 3" gauges easily, is out of the way, and you can also fit a nitrous activation switch without your date finding out you have a modified car. The cables can be routed like speaker wires and the gauges can sit on a leather/metal surface. Pics soon, when I'm finished. Oh, and I forgot, you can get the gauges with the green light like the dash from greddy (3" peak/warn).

Almost forgot, my DIN space has the Apexi AVC-R in there and will soon have a blank DIN cover around it so it looks nice and clean.
