Talking Jabba Results

Got back today after my Jabba trip and Metallica concert yesterday. Am now absolutely knackered! Took the trip to Jabba and got there at 9.30 and was met by Mike. Handed over my keys and drank some coffe to try and wake me up. He came back at about 11.00 with the keys and my eagerly awaited results - 183.0bhp and 419.4Nm (309.3lb ft)!

Roughly what I expected on power, but only expected about 290lb ft of torque! It is now amazing to drive and pulls from 2000 all the way through to the red line, though the torque does drop after it peaks, the power peaks at between 3500-4000.

All I can say is a big thanks to all at Jabba for the work they done and their friendly way of working. Always makes you feel more comfortable and relaxed. After chatting for about half hour, I made my way back to London in the pouring rain and then battled my way into Earls Court. Got back in about 1.00 this morning and have been with SWMBO all day. Now I am home, I thought I'd share my experience with you all!

Happy Christmas to one and all! :santa:

Was using the Ultimate and Millers. Mike reckons the exhaust is restricting the power on the Furby's compared to the Golfs, but was well impressed with the torque figures! It doesn't seem to smoke any more than it did before either, which is an added bonus!

Had 4,500 when I got there. Now got 4,900! Halfway to a first service in under 3 months!

Nice one mate.

We are looking into a larger bore decat pipe and exhaust for the Fabia vRS. If I can get a few people genuinely interested I can get Milltek to do one.

About the same power as mine after your remap (though I got 326 lbft torque), but doesnt it make a huge difference.

Ive still got the grin on my face.

Huge amount of difference! Scared SWMBO when I took her out today! She couldn't believe how much quicker it is. She loves it now though. I can't stop smiling when I'm driving it now. I find myself dropping back from people, just so I can boot it and feel the torque!

Felt like it did when it was standard, but may have been just me. If you unscrew the airbox cover, inside the box there is what looks like a throttle body trumpet which just unclips. In theory, it lets more air get drawn into the engine, which can't be a bad thing!

Don't think xenons make much difference when you have those power or torque figures though!

I had another look at this at the weekend after doing the TDi. On the tdi the trumpet in the airbox is much thinner in diameter and longer (about twice as long as the RS)

I reckon the trumpet is less restrictive on the RS as its wider bore and shorter. I 'll whip it out though to see if theres a difference.

Fitted the JR filter and engine seems more responsive and smoother, although maybe its just the freezing cold weather!

F219216 from www.coordsport.com Cost around £35 ?? IIRC

Its the Ralliart Mitsubishi place in Dudley. Lots of VERY nice cars there!

So bloomon difficult to track one down. Its the same as the one in my TDi and I swapped them over after a clean.

Waited six months with K&N and they couldnt suply me with one!

Matt?

You couldn't divulge details of the trumpet mod if poss? Or, if you're going to the Wales thing, bring along (or tell me) what tools are needed for the job and I'll give it a shot too!

Jason,
Its really easy.

1. Undo the two screws on the right hand side of the air filter box (using a posi drive)
2. Lift top of air cleaner box away starting with the right hand side (left is held in with platic lugs/clips.
3. Underneath the top half you will see the trumpet. Unclip it from the bottom and slide it out.
4. Replace everything else and voila!

Dont expect a huge difference, but maybe a little more response. You'll see how restrictive the trumpet is when you take it out. You could always dremmel out the plastic webbing behind the trumpet too!

You see, this is where my un-techie side surfaces. I've never invested the time to find out where the air filter box even is...

I'll bring along a pack of screwdrivers and a sledgehammer to Wales and see if there can be a group trumpet removal.

Screws position red arrows, clips blue arrows.

Well everyone else has asked about the car so I thought I'd cover the important stuff.
How were Metallica?

I went on the Friday and thought it was one of the best shows I've seen them do.

Blinding set list and even the new songs sounded pretty good. The sound quality was very good right down the front and I was pleased to see that they hadn't bothered with a separate standing area in front of a second barrier.

Did they do an extra encore after Sandman?

We got "Am I evil" and "Hit the lights" which was a pleasant surprise.

Someone else changing my quotes.

So, all I need to do is screw up the airbox, take it up to 125 mph to knacker the turbo (again) and I'll be set for the run in Wales! wahooo!
