How much !!!!!

DMF can go for sure, however Sara at Awsome GTI was selling a single flywheel conversion and helix uprated clutch for about 500 notes.

IMHO £1500 is well over the top and it sounds like you should get a breakdown of all the parts. I head somewhere that a DMF kit comes with a new clutch included, so check this out and if it does, then don't also pay for an additional clutch kit ontop of that one.

Sorry to hear your bad news

Blimey 1500 buck is way over the top it should cost no more than 5-600 fitted for the dual mass flywheel type.

Go to another Garage

The dual mass flywheels was not long ago retailing at £611.00 + VAT
I myself would do a single mass flywheel conversion as this would be cheaper.
Let me know if you want me to price up a kit for you then not a problem , I would need to know about the engine on this though

If the cars already in bits get some more quotes & haggle with the stealer, If its not get some quotes & take it elsewhere

Yep i agree, although i would add a proviso of depends what they are changing.

Fathers focus had the DMF done, that also required a new clutch and a new master cylinder because it was full of metal shards. They could have done it without doing the clutch and master cylinder but they would have almost certainly gone shortly after. The total cost was approx £1000 at a main dealer.

I do think that £1500 is still approximately 50% too much for the work

Re: New Flywheel and clutch for ocatvia 2000 - 70,000 on clock

the price of £1500 is from a Skoda garage so I trusted them but I have since found a garage who will reduce the price to about £900.00. Also he advises me that there is a conversation kit so we will see if that works. The motto of the tale is not to trust Skoda garages as they rip you of!!!

Watch this space??

Nope some main dealers won't charge you £1500 pound for it more like £700-1000 fitted with a new clutch. It's just that the dealer you used is having a joke.

Care to name and shame?

Re: New Flywheel and clutch for ocatvia 2000 - 70,000 on clock

The garage is called Woodheads Skoda, Blackpool. the service manager Tom is the chap who quoted £1500.

The car is now safe in a St Annes garage and is being worked on as we speak. I'm going down to the garage now to pick up a courtesy car.
I'll post the outcome and cost asap.

Thanks for your help

Re: New Flywheel and clutch for ocatvia 2000 - 70,000 on clock

As a matter of interest, when we were called by the Skoda garage about the £1500 bill and were asked to make a decision to go ahead or not, the manager asked if wanted a dealer from Skoda to contact us about trading our car in. We were told the car was worth about £1900 without the flywheel or clutch fixed.

Make of that what you will, I was lucky I shopped around for a better price but others may have sold the car and took on finance for a newer car..............................!!
