| I am in the process of buying a New Octavia 2.0 FSi Sport, whilst at the dealers he told me some things which I find unlikely. My question is FACT or FICTION? 1. "the car has 150 bhp but I can get it chipped to 200bhp for £288" .... FACT or FICTION? 2. "the ECU limits the performance of the engine until it reaches 4000 miles then it frees up more power" ..... FACT or FICTION? 3. "the car only needs servicing every 2 years or 20,000 miles so servicing costs are halved" .... FACT or FICTION? Thanks in advance Craig |

| 1. Sort of, only remap I could find is this one from Upsolute ![]() ..............but no where near the kind of power gains your dealer claimed and not worth it IMHO. 2. Fiction, not heard that one before!. 3. Sort of, car will be on variable servicing but the maximum a petrol 2.0 FSI can go without a service is just that, 2yrs or 20,000 miles. | 1) nonsense. You can get a remap but you'll get 10% increase at best. 2) nonsense. Performance and economy will improve with age but thats not due to the ECU - more down to parts bedding in and friction decreasing. 3) vaguely true in that the variable sevicing might take you up to 20k miles , but it also costs more than standard servicing so it's not a huge saving

| I'm not sure servicing every 20k miles will save you half the money over 2 10k fixed services, but it will be more convenient as you won't have to visit the dealer as frequently..... Chris

| Just to clarify part 2. I think maybe he's talking about the FSi technology. More economical at lower RPM but then more power higher up when the tumble flaps operate. ![]()
