Octavia Wiper Arm

I have been and driven Octavia hatch's which always seem to have noisy rear wipers. However a few of the 03 Octavia's the taxi drivers have seem to have a thicker more plastic wiper arm similar to the one on the Fabia, and Estate A4. Is this perhaps a design change from Skoda or have these taxi drivers just modified them on their own?

Nah surley not. Must be a design change. All rear wipers I've seen are squeaky anyway

ETKA shows a different rear wiper arm part number for Octavia sedans built from 31.03.03, which would seem to bear out what flyingscot has noticed. You will need to speak to a dealer to check whether the later part can be fitted to pre-31.03.03 cars. The Combi's wiper arm has not been modified.

Probably has been a design change at some point. Mines an 03 Octavia and recently had the rear wiper replaced under a recall notice. This doesn't seem to have affected many cars though as no-one else on here seems to have been affected (they all thought it was a wind up - mind you I did post it on April 1st!!). Looked like the packaging for the replacemetn was Audi though...

Well at least I am not being stupid! I have seen a few going about and my Dad seems to think I am going mad! I will ask him to enquire the next time the Octavia goes in to the dealer about fitting. The rear wiper is the only fault with the car as apart form the squeeks it has had the wash line come off at Christmas, making the boot decidily wet and it fused it's self down the motorway!

I didn't mention that the wiper blade is different too, but some members have correctly assumed that to be the case.

Yes it has...

The MkI octy estate has the washer jet combined with the wiper, akin to the fabia, the MkII has the washer jet seperate, combined with the upper brake light.

..and good to see some decent musical taste on the site

I stand corrected. Is yours a Mk 1, then, Ian?

Nope, a MkII, but paul (spc - white MkI) and I were sad enough to be parked next to each other and noticing the differences, as we thought they had not changed anything at the rear of the estate...

Just for Denis....

Brake light different (MkII has a washer jet in it)

Wiper (as discussed)

Skoda badge (flat on MkI, domed on MkII)

Number plate lighting \ handle (upper edge is curved on MkII, level with a "blip" for key lock on MkI)

Bumper (one colour on MkII, black section at bottom on MkI)

At lest they changed something. Better than the 'all new' Ford Mondeo that looks the same as the old one!

At least they didn't change the colour

But hey, my car is a post 31/03/03 and I still have an old-fashioned rear wiper! I want a recall!!
